| Message | I definitely don't mind changing the format of the playoff pool as currently it is not very entertaining. If we can find a way to make it more competitive, then let's do it. Currently it is too much based on luck. The FHL Championship is awarded based on the regular season and everybody structures their team around that. The playoffs are an afterthought. I definitely wouldn't make any trades in order to better position the C-Dogg's for the playoffs. |

| Message | It would be good to have input from other teams: ie Terror, Doggs and Bruins on this. The problem is motivation - the Terror goes into a funk when there team finishes poorly, and therefore the GM doesn't even look at the banter board. |

| Message | to phil's question i'd say the playoff thing would be completely seperate.. |

| Message | I have a hard time getting excited about making trades that are going to get reversed anyways. I don't mind the idea of smaller rosters for the playoffs. Maybe 4f, 2d, 1g, 1 wild card if you wish. |

| Message | I also would say the trophy is some incentive... I really like the trophy shelves or whatever from years past. I also think we shouldn't need to add money to the playoff part to add interest, if GM's aren't interested in the pool then that's a problem, not to be solved with money. If we're adding money I'd think it should just be a small bonus to go with the bragging rights, I do think that some of the suggestions here would be an improvement in that they'd reduce the fluke factor of the playoffs and make the playoff wins that much more meaningful. One question if we did add $5 and preplayoff picks is: Can you trade a playoff pick for a regular season pick? Can you add a playoff pick as value into a regular season deal? etc? I'd probably vote No. |

| Message | the supplemental draft would really evens things out, but still not enough to make $'s totally a fair addition.. maybe fun, but not fair.. i'd be ok with $5, but like phil said it should be every year.. should be included in the entry fee at the beginning, rather than chasing $5 down off ppl.. phil's first pick could get him thomas, conklin, theodore, rinne or halak in net.. potential dukes cuts of backstrom/gomez/sundin/hudler could be available in the draft, as well as very interesting trade possibilities with early picks... |

| Message | Some interesting thoughts Duke, I like the idea about not substituting in between rounds, which would even the playing field. The trading thing may have some merit - it might make it a bit more exciting. I'm against the $ thing though - its too flukey. The current format is - ten total players. 3 minimum d, 6 forwards and 1 goalie and 1 wild card player (either d or f). Shrinking it would also level the playing field. Definitely something to think about. |

| Message | I don't really like subbing in players between rounds.. If you bet on a player, you're mostly picking his team to win a few rounds.. If you're wrong, you're rewarded if you have depth. Eliminating substitutions could even the playing field a little. Shrink the roster sizes so that most teams (if not all) can ice a complete lineup. 4/2/1 ? I'm not sure what the current set up is.. Shrink it a little bit though, I think.. Have a roster freeze on April 1st, but teams can make trades for the playoffs that are reversed after the playoffs. Would loosen things up, and allow GMs to let off some steam.. Green and Jokinen for Lidstrom??? Crosby for Luongo?? With smaller roster sizes, teams with depth can package 2 and 3 for 1's.. Allow players who are not activated to be picked up in a supplemental playoff draft, starting with 8th place picking first... Again, everything reversed to pre-April 1st after the playoffs. Just food for thought.. |

| Message | I'd agree it makes more sense to have a separate pool for cash, the FHL playoff pool is a complete fluke job (but it is fun). I don't think it would add many trades because keeper value is obviously worth so much more than a season to season playoff player value. That said I'd be fine with throwing 5 bucks away though. |

| Message | I am dead against adding money to the playoff pool. The playoff pool is pure luck as far as which teams go on and if you happen to have some players on those teams. The playoffs are all about team success, and our pool is about individual points. What would be fair would be to have a draft of all 16 playoff teams, and points awarded for how far each team goes in the playoffs or how many wins they get in the playoffs. Each GM drafts 2 teams, as this places control back into us as GM's hands. |
