MessageSteve,

Chelsea's average attendance never dropped quite as low as 10,000. There were a few years in the mid 80s when it was between 12.5 and 18K but that was down to being in the Second Division and playing terrible football.

Likewise Fulham were only getting 4000 when they were down in the fourth tier in the mid 90s. Now in the Premier they get 6 times that. Glory-hunting Fulham fans. smilie smilie smilie

MessageLynn,

You are very defensive? Can we not come on here as paying customers of the club and publicly voice our disapproval of the current tactics?
If we could only come on and express our delight when doing well it would be a boring message board.
The reality is, Andy Martin has drafted in players that are simply not good enough. I mean what did the centre midfield new player offer on Friday? Nothing, he looked unfit, slow and any time he got the ball he just punted it upfield.
Our defenders didn't try and play the ball on the ground once. The young left back was taught a lesson by Jack McLeod.
I honestly think the club is goign to lose fans very quickly if they carry on the way they are going.
How about a free entrance game before the end of the year to entice supporters and try and get people behind the team if the board truly believe this is the way forward?
Just a suggestion?
Steve

MessageSteve, good comments and your right we need to get behind the team,o.k I have someone who plays in the team, but I have only missed one game all season and even over previous seasons I have watched Merstham alot,so yes the team need the support, there have been times recently when I thought sod it,but you have to goand I hope like most that we can turn it around,I believe we may have lost Dale and Ross White, which is a shame, but it may be an oopportunity for others but thay need to be good enough, otherwise it will show, the only problem I have with our reserves is as good as they are doing in there league they are in the southern division, which is not as strong as the Surburban Premier, and its a big enough step up from the prem,Dave with regard to naming players, dont think it,s fair to have a go at players on here,we all have our opinions and it would be easy to name a few who lets say have not quite cut the mustard, with regard to Colin,I dont think he had one of his better games at Whitstable by all accounts and so is back getting games in the reserves with a view to be brought back at some point I would imagine. You mention pace, well we have just lost two of our quicker players in Dave Smith and Ross White, point I would make is its not just about pace,of course it is a big advantage, but you still need to be able to deliver balls and make tackles even if you have the pace.See you Saturday.

MessageI think maybe we need to look at a few of the players that have been playing in the reserves, constantly up near the top of there league and more than likely wanting to show the desire to be in the 1st team i happened to watch them on saturday and there were a few players i felt could step up to the plate. Wasn't Colin Harvey in the team for Chipstead and has since vanished he seemed to be clearing up Michael Corbetts mess. I think we would also need to inject some more pace into the team and not settle for the oppositions tempo

MessageRob
There are more Man U supporters living in the South and most of them have never seen them play live.Chelsea in the mid 80s had home crowds around 10 thousand now there are more blue shirted so called fans again who have never seen them live and if the money goes along with there current success how many of there fans will be there. Im a Fulham season ticket holder and we have won nothing but they are my team just like Merstham and i will support them no matter what. There are people who critisise on here that are doing very little in giving support when times are tough and the energy should be in encouraging no matter what.No player intentionally wants to play badly,no manager or coach will do no less than do there best and all for little or no payment so again support the team.

MessageSteve, good comments of which alot are true,Merstham Rec,lack of money etc ( And by the way nice to hear from you Ronnie, thats if it is Ronnie of course smilie )but I think that you might be missing the point, its not about glory or success, but it is about competing, and I have to say that over the last 6 matches apart from Faversham we have not competed at all, that is what is sad, with lack of money or whatever else you lack, there is no reason to go out and be embarressed and we have, yes o k the lads surely dont go out there to play badly,I agree with that, but at the moment there is a problem with the team and team morale, now if as a club we want to progress, maybe for the remaining games of the season, because again as some have said its to late to start changing the side, then why not just put some of the reserves and the u 18,s in the side to complete the season,it would give them expeareance, save on the wage bill, and as there prob wont be any relegation this season it gives the youngsters a feel of 1st team football. As for Man U and Chelsea supporters what the hell has that got to do with anything.

MessageLets get back to reality. We are not a proffesional club, we havnt the money to compete with the top 6 or so, we are in fact a village club that 10 years ago was playing in the rec with the changing room also in the rec.We have come on leaps and bounds and to many so called supporters they have been spoilt in our recent success. We are 4 divisions of the football league and we are punching way above our weight. I support the club i have watched the under 18s, the A team and on a Sunday i will watch the youths playing in the park.I am a season ticket holder and will continue to be whether its in the Rymans or The Combine Counties. If you want the glory go and support Leatherhead or Crawley I have a sneaky feeling the ones moaning are Man U or Chelsea supporters which says it all really.Support the club by all means but lets be positive in the good and not so good times.
