Messagethank you ebbingnight! i know the chapter worked if you feel this strongly about it. i agree with you that what legolas endured was horrific. oh, and elrond knew right then in that moment after legolas first attempt to kill himself that what he felt was more than a passing connection. that to me is worse, because he was ashamed to admit it and refused to make things right. and, i think arwen was wrong too, and maybe mithrandir had an ulterior motive for letting that happen.we'll see what rhun'waew has to say about it, too.

thank you so much for this feedback, and i, too, could not let legolas relive all this, especially with the unborn babe to protect, the last thing he needs is to have all this rehashed.

MessageAgain, I agree with Stef: shame on Imladris! This chapter lets us know how much Legolas truly suffered before this story even began. I can't believe that the repeated suicide attempts didn't make *some* elves have more compassion on the "lowly wood elf" when he finally, finally recovered. And, frankly, it doesn't make me like Elrond much better: 10 years is a very long time to sleep with someone and not even realize that you love them! As for Arwen: she richly deserves any comeuppance she gets for abusing her "magical powers" like this. I'm not very happy with Gandalf for allowing it, either!

(The only one I'm happy with is you, dear, for writing this in such a way that we know about it, but Legolas at least didn't have to mentally relive it, which is the way I was afraid that this flashback would have to be told!)

MessageThanks Cerencae! SO glad it met your expectations. I agree about Galbreth, he was very important to Legolas and is much missed. Makes Aras' bad attitude maybe easier to understand, since his father seems to have taken greater interest in Legolas than him.

the Winter Queen and the Evenstar will have it out, but there are other things to deal with. need to get back to that event happening in the wood elves' camp smilie

thanks again!

I am glad to be back to writing more regularly too!

MessageThat was a wonderful chapter! Definitely worth the wait.
Faelon is ever-climbing the list of my favorite elves. He is so great.
The glimpse you gave us of Galbreth was so fantastic, really moving. No wonder Legolas got so messed up by his death; what a great brother!
And the ending! Gah! My exact thoughts were "Oh snap!"
I've missed you Tawarwaith, so it's great to hear from you again! Happy November!

MessageAI! stef, you read the rough draft in the tawarwaith group files! eep! i have cut alot from what will officially post today. so, for folks seeing this, if you want to read the uncut version you will need to go to the tawarwaith group and pull it up in the files. i worried that the scene with erestor was redundant and some of the dialogue forced, so i hacked away at it. maybe i can add the cut stuff with erestor into the extra scenes category here.

thank you for the wonderful feedback, stef! smilie

Messageglad to hear things are going well.
i read the new chapter last night... it is WOW!!!
woundrous, arwen reaction was to be expected: she loves her father dearly and though she is going to leave him for aragorn she is not ready yet to give up her role as the family's baby.
i think she will be grateful for her new brother in time.
i wept all the time since the line in which legolas remembers galbreth's advice, and on the suicide attempts i shook with fear, even if i know perfectly that legolas survived and things are settling for him.
i hope rhunwaew (sorry i really can't seem to get her name right)doesn't go berserk with arwen.
e oh! faelon is going to be awarded in my personal list as elf of the year! among those legendary characters is the most human and kind.
shame on erestor and glorfindel for their behavior and most of all on elrond !!

Requests?Aerlinn new chapter?
MessageOh, yes, I totally agree with Stefi that some kind of flashback to that first year would be a wonderful new chapter... though I am much happier now that things are improving for Legolas and am not really sure that I want to see him suffer more even in flashback! (Though you're such a great writer I'm sure you can talk us through that too....)

Virtual chocolates all around!
