Messagedear Vicky, what would I do without you? Those wonderful compliments really bolstered me up. I get pretty nervous when I do this sort of thing, worrying it won't be received well or misses the mark for the intended person.

I too am looking forward to writing yours, it is going to be such fun and i hope both warm and fuzzy and exceedingly HOT smilie

Don't worry about the so-called bar. I am awaiting your xmas fics with much anticipation and joy. it was such a great idea, I couldn't resist joining in!

You are number three, so let me get busy and finish number two smilie
lots of love
ellen

MessageOh I loved Faer Na Faer! You've raised the bar so high for the Christmas fics that I know I won't be able to reach it - I'll just have to crawl underneath instead smilie

You managed to wring just about every emotion from me in this tale - from sorrow at Thranduil's grieving, to toe-curling embarrassment at Haldir's misunderstanding of Thranduils's toast, all the way through to raging lust at the end!

I particularly liked how everyone thought they were acting in someone else's best interest, not wanting them to be hurt. I was actually relieved when Thranduil overheard Legolas and Haldir's exchange, because I knew he would only have Legolas' best interests at heart, even if that would mean having to let him go.

Wonderful! I can't wait for the others (especially mine!)

MessageOh, after reading Vicky's message and your reply, I can hardly wait for the next chapter! You really do have us on pins and needles: we're so wanting Legolas to be happy with Elrond and yet realizing now that unless some people (especially Elrond!) really do change, perhaps he won't be....

Let's hope that it all works out somehow: there *is* powerful magic here!

Messagehi Vicky! thanks for this great feedback. I am pleased the ideas came through loud and clear. Yes,Elrond was cruel and while he can blame ignorance for part of it, he has to own that he treated Legolas just as you say. Even if he believed Legolas could not over hear him when he said that, as a healer he should have thought twice before saying it. also, the excuse Arwen made, that had Legolas been honest about who he was in the first plce none of it would have happened, tells much about the attitudes with which she was raised. why should it matter so much if Legolas was royalty or nobility? that doesn't speak well of Elrond's values, which he obviously passed on to his children.

now Mithrandir is not entirely bad in allowing this and the fact that rhun'waew was there is an indication of that. maybe Mithrandir is partial to our wood elf and wants a little retribution. it was his guess that Legolas down-played the real story when talking with his family, hence Thranduil's amazing restraint! Legolas loves Elrond and wants everything tojust be rosy and sweet,so he's willing to forget everything and forgive. we've seen this time and again and no doubt Elrond expects this as well. only now that the twins are in the picture does he start to worry about losing legolas tosomeone else - permanently.

thank you again so much!

MessageI said I'd probably write more when I'd had the chance to read the latest chapter again, and here I am!

The more I read this, the more I'm shocked by Elrond's callous attitude towards Legolas. In a previous chapter, it's stated that the Wood Elves would have regarded Legolas as the bond slave of Elrond because Elrond would not formally bond with him. And Elrond's attitude shows exactly why: when he tells Glorfindel, "Legolas is secured to me by this sylvan bond and I will indulge the privileges of that bond as I see fit," that really does sound like a master talking about his slave. It's no wonder Legolas fell into despair.

I am also suspicious about Mithrandir's motives. He could have stopped Arwen - surely he is powerful enough to do that. I couldn't help feeling as though he also wanted to see what Arwen would uncover. It will be interesting to see what Rhûn'waew has to say smilie
