| Message | A big thank you to the committee and all the volunteers who are working so hard to make Come Home Year 2007 the success I know it will be.A special thanks to the creator of this site;marvelous to read the many comments and to sense the excitement of those planning a return home this summer.I will most certainly be one of them and although fifty two years have passed since I first left Grand Bank,I can hardly wait for Jul when that big jet will wing me swiftly home.Looking forward to seeing relatives and friends and enjoying all the come home activities. |

| Message | Hi there and congratulations to the 2007 Come Home Year committee for their efforts in organizing this great event. We left Grand Bank in 1974. No one probable remembers us, but I was with the RCMP there for Four and a half years. I might add that it was the best years of my life. Many of those I still vivisly remember, ie. George Snook, Kip Green and my old friend and fishing and hunting buddy, Malcolm Osmond. We are planning on coming down this year sometime during the festivities, and I hope there are still a few people around that I will recognize. We have not been back to Grand Bank since around 1978, and no doubt there have been many changes since then, but I'm sure there's one thing that hasn't changed and that is the hospitality of the people that I had gotten so well to know. See you all in August |

| Message | Hi folks, great to see all the messages posted. Just saw the Southern Gazette for May 15 2007 online and saw one of my high school classmates profiled - Christine Matthews. Congratulations to her on her recognition by the CNA - and it was here in Ottawa, my hometown for the last 15 years! If Christine or someone in her family sees this post and knows how to reach her via email - please pass along my best wishes to her. | Message | Hi All, I have never met another person with the same last name as me other than my immediate family.Unfortunately,some people left small town Nfld when they young for different reasons.As a result families have lost connections to the past . . My father's name was Gordon Lloyd"Cocky"Strowbridge and was born and raised in Grand Bank ,his Mother's name was Beatrice . He left GB in the 50's and moved to Goose Bay, Labrador and started his family . As I recall from my Father there were many hardships during this era .Economical, educational and even religious confrontations. He was passionate and proud of where he came from .Stories of soccer ,the weather ,the beautiful but harsh landscape and more kept us kids in awe . I am hoping to make it there and have a couple of pops .I bet there's a yarn ot two that'll make me smile. Thanks for your time. |
