MessageLooking forward to meeting friends and family druing Come Home Year this summer. Hope I will be there when Robert Forsey from Arizona is there. He is a relative of mine on the Forsey side.
Robert's cousin, Bob Porter, also a cousin of mine living here in Peterborough, told me just recently that he last saw Robert Forsey when Robert was about three years of age.

Your web site and guest book are great to help us connect with each other. Much appreciated.

MessageGreat job with the web site! Obviously a lot of work has gone into preparing for this celebration. Wouldn't miss it for anything!! I can't wait to see who makes it home. Hope to see all you guys from the class of '85.

I've been teaching here at the high school in Bay Roberts since '97 and make frequent trips back home but it should be great this summer to see all of you who don't get to come home often. See you there!

All the best,
Valerie

MessageHi!
"Hats Off" to the Organizing Committee...looks like it's gonna be a great time had by all!
Charl (Thomasen) and I will be there and we're looking forward to seeing everyone.
Thought I'd use this Guest Book entry to wonder how many of our 1986 Graduating Class will be there? We should pick a date/time for a 'high school reunion' get-together.... Any interest? If yes, send me an email and I'll make contact with friends in Grand Bank to help organize something! smilie

All the Best!
J.

MessageIt's been over 15 years since I've drove up Gumbo run to tip the top and see our beloved town so majestically laying along the coast. This july i plan to do it again, and i am sure i will have to wipe a tear away when it happens.
I recently recieved an email entitled 40 reasons you know you're from Grand Bank,(thanks Roger) it brought back a lot of fond memories. I like to take this time to tell you some of the things i miss about my home.
Walking up through the harbour on a foggy night. If you think about it long enough you can almost smell the damp, thick, salty air.
How many of us had our first smoke/drink in rusty cave? You don't want to remember the smell in that place.
How about hide & seek around the old stages, climbing and crawling. That place was one great maze.
Who remembers sitting on the grass hill (what is now the approach to the new bridge) and watching the old carton house burn down?
The big wind stom that blew down the tower on Bennett's hill, and took us back to one TV channel.
I am sure like the rest of Grand Bankers i could go on all day. I complement the committe on such a great site. Also for all the Grand Banker's, home, abroad, and anyone who feels a connection to our town Please lets get behind the maratimers memorial. We should all do our best to see that this project does not fall short of its goal.
I really can't but have to wait until this summer, and the time i can call Grand Bank home again. Hope to see one and all this summer.

MessageI am the Mariners' Researcher for the Grand Bank Heritage Society who is trying to obtain information on the boats and the men who were lost at sea so biographies can be written on each and every one of them. When the Memorial Garden is officially unveiled, it is with the intention to have an interpretation centre located within the George C. Harris House. Inside you will be able to look up the name of a boat or man that was lost and read a short biography on them. In order to do so I need the help of family and friends. If you have a relative that was lost and can provide information for a biography, please contact me at the email provided or call 709-832-1574.

The Mariners' Memorial is close to its unveiling date and we would like to advise the public that we are still in need of $50,000.00 to see the project completed as originally planned. We would like to request assistance from any organization, business, private or public group to help raise these funds by hosting a fund-raising event in aid of the Mariners' Memorial, doing so will help see us through to our projected goal. If you or someone you know would like to make a personal donation, you may contact me at the email address provided ,call 709-832-1574, or mail your contribution to:

I have never been to NL but hope to make it this year as I am also interested the genealogy stuff.I am also related to the Forseys Hickmans Snooks and it seems like everyone else. My grandfather George William Tibbo of Grand Bank married Rhoda Whiteway Payne from Harbour Grace.(all kinds of info. on him, none on her)

I hope to drive/ferry to GB and camp on the way. I am looking for recomondation on places to stop/camp/not miss along the way. hope I can make it I look forward to meeting alot of cousins and joining in the celebrations.

MessageI left a message last year and forgot to include my e-mail address. I had originally asked for help with my family tree...Royle, Hickman, Woodridge, Tibbo, Snook, Rose, Simms, Forsey, Cox, and Patten. I have alot of information already, but would appreciate any additional information anyone might have.

I love Grand Bank. Anytime I hear that someone is from Newfoundland, I always have to ask where they're from just in case it could be Grand Bank.
