MessageHi All, sorry to stick my 1 Para nose in your 3 Para business but I am on a mission.

I have had contact with a lady who is trying to unite her father with old Para mates. I have made initial inquiries and if what I am told is correct then this young Fella me lad served in 'Gungie III'.

His name is Terry Green, and was in about 1956 time in Cyprus, and was eventually medically discharged. It would appear he was shot, by his own with 5 rounds from a Bren Gun zipping his back and has the large scar to prove it. It has reminded some on the 1 Para of such a an instance when a Capt., shot a soldier and although he survived and several weeks in Holdees, he was medically discharged.

Terry is I believe still alive and kicking and was a member of Chesterfield PRA some years ago. If anyone does remember this man I would be pleased to hear from them and maybe some one may gat back in touch with an old mate.
My email is attached, or I'm on 0114 2484963 Mob 07815524666.

Now fall in for a Reggie Bath your minga's. Hee Hee Hee Hee. Incidentally recently got old of a photo of 3 Para drums circa 1956. Drummy Allen is Drums Sgt!

MessageI went to see Joe 90 this afternoon. For those who don't know he had a stroke in January which was very nearly terminal. Joe was in good spirits but he has some problems, his right hand in numb so he has trouble holding things, he also has a stutter and is having speech therapy and another side effect he is suffering a bit of depression. He was gutted because he couldn't make Blackpool so I've offered him a lift with Kath and I next year, I'm also going to pick him up and take him to Cleethorpes for Armed Forces Day. smilie

MessageHi everyone,

Received the following message from Sheffield PRA - It is with great sadness that I inform the branch of the passing of Gordon Thompson, a long time member of Sheffield PRA. Sadly Gordon passed away on 16th March 16. Gordon was Ex 3 Para in the 70's. I'm not 100% sure but think he may have been the Chief Clerk.

Gordon's funeral Service and cremation will take place at 11:30am on Friday 1st April 2016.

City Road Cemetery

Gordons Wife Mary, has asked that we do not parade as such but members who wish to attend are welcome. Standards will not be present.

MessageBill Malcolmson, of 'C' Company, from about 1961 to 1967, when he moved on to the SAS, died recently in Victoria, British Columbia. He was a member of the shooting team with such stalwarts as Ken Frith, Aussie Nick, Squeaky Holborn and Mick Lawes, and others. The ranks are sadly thinning.
