MessageSome of you may have heard or read about the European Gymnastics Championships that finished the other day.
Well JJ Wilson's son, Nile, won the Gold Medal on the High Bar - the first Briton to have done so.
On everyone's behalf, I would like to pass on our congratulations. No doubt it is the Rio Olympics next.
Well Done, Nile!! I bet your family are proud!

MessageBelow is a message from Ron Duffy's family which was sent to Morecambe Branch Secretary:

“I have arrived back home in Glasgow with the family after what I can only describe as one of the most overwhelming days I have ever had. A day which should have been so sad actually turned out to be a great celebration of Ron's life. We thought it would be a quite quiet send off for Ron. Oh how wrong we were!

The turnout of comrades and friends for Ron's farewell from this earth was truly unbelievable we were all so greatly touched. Never before I have witnessed so much military insignia such as the distinctive Maroon Berets, the Glengarry Bonnets and in particular the Regimental Standards - WOW! All clearly worn and held with such great pride.

A display of comradeship, brotherhood, respect and love for each other that I witnessed today cannot, in my opinion, be equalled by any other organisation on Earth whether military or not.

I have learned more about my great cousin Ron Duffy after his passing than I have in all the years I have known him. I suppose it was always going to take someone else to "blow his trumpet"

May Ron and his Comrades who have fallen, in battle or in peace time, rest in peace. And may we remember them always.

UTRINQUE PARATUS

Kind Regards
Sandy Milbank
Assistant to the Secretary
Parachute Regimental Association

MessageAs you can see from the previous post, Ron Duffy's funeral went off extremely well. I was amazed at how many turned up, which was great to see. His family were apparently overwhelmed. Tremendous send-off, well done everybody. RIP

MessageI'm ex Kosb and am posting this to thank you all for the tremendous send off you gave Ronnie Duffy I spoke to Ronnie's sister before I left and she was taken aback by the number from the Parachute Regiment that turned out to say farewell. Ronnie was Para through and through and when he returned to the KOSB he was always known as Ronnie the Para, a truly reliable soldier. I think a lot of Ronnie's friends from his KOSB days will be extremely proud to learn of his service record after he returned to 3 Para. Well done all and God Bless St Ronnie.
