MessageIt is with sadness that I have to inform and confirm that a 3 Para and Club member Sergeant Joe Black has pass away. Joe was one of the Battalions larger than life characters.Joe passed away in Frimley Park Hospital on Saturday 4th February 2017 aged 69. he was surrounded by his close friends and family by his bedside. He was not alone on this his final battle. Joe spent the majority of his career in 3 Para and I had the privilege to have him with me in and during the Falklands War. His humor, mood and temperament kept us all in good spirits both prior to landing on the Canberra Via The "Ferry Boat Inn" going South and after all the way into Stanley. I will personally miss his smile and cheeky ways and those late night calls when he needed someone to talk too. No matter what we all ways ended the calls in laughter because that is how and the effect he had on you as many others can confirm. His Funeral service is at The Garrison Church Aldershot on Friday 17th February 2017 at 14.30 after Joe will be taken to the Military Cemetery for burial. After All are invited to the Trafalgar in Aldershot to celebrate Joe's life. Teresa Noakes Joe next of kin has asked that flowers be kept to a single stem or donation to the Combat Stress Charity Teresa hoped you can attend. If you have any photos of Joe please bring them along. I would like to pass on from the Reunion Club a special thanks to Teresa & Chubby McGatten for looking after Joe during his illness. God Bless You Joe.

MessageRe earlier post and Facebook, no doubt many of you have heard about the death of Mick McIntyre. A great shame - he was a real character in the battalion and a member of the shooting team for many years. I remember thinking how small a 9mm pistol looked in his hand!
Our condolences to his family.
