MessagePRIORITY ONE!

BERT HUGHES (M.B.E)

27 years ago tonight Bert was mortaring Argentinians who did'nt realise they were about to be visited by the Third Battalion, Thats what Bert did!!!
He went on to be awarded the M.B.E for services in the Strife Torn Province.

Througout his service he was assisted by the following players who will regret his passing,

Big Mac, Tucker,Hoy Priest, Fitzy's (Large & Small) Bullivant (51a) Ronnie Cooper, and all the Heavy gang, I had better include in this message Liam McKevitt and the bloke who made it all work Ozzy Howells,

Bert Rest in Peace,

27 years ago tonight The Battalion marched on, and fought on Mount Longdon,

A day and a half later WE all marched into Port Stanley, I am only going this weekend to Airborne Forces Day in Eden Camp, Can you imagine NOT winning????

Feet & knees together

Blandy

MessageDave,
Me too. Kev Robbie informed me last night. I'm guttend. Burt was a good guy and soldier. I had the opportunity to work with him for very last time in Bosnia in is former Ireland job. Suddenly the pressures and petty arguments in life don't seem to matter.

Rest in Peace Burt.

Rgds
Frank

MessageI saw George Munro's entry in relation to photographs of the original D (Patrol Company) out in Borneo in 1966. I served in the 216 Para Sig detachment from the formation of the Company until the end of the tour out in Borneo.
I have a number of photographs of the time out in Borneo including some taken of the time we Parachuted into Jessleton just before the end of the tour. One of the photographs I have had put onto the 216 site. It's under Places+Groups page 3 (they have put the year wrong it should be 1996 not 94.
Can anyone put names to some of the faces in the photograph.
Just moved from Bournemouth to Abergavenny. The old battle school at Brecon (Dering Lines) is now totally Craphat.
Chris
