MessageA Message for John Weeks. (via gmail)

Sir,
As a retired member of the US Special Forces I had the pleasure of traveling to the UK to participate in several training/foreign Airborne exchanges at Depot Para, the Parachute Regiment in Aldershot. The last time I was there was 1989-1990.
I have lost contact with a very good friend who at the time was the RSM. His name was WO1 John Weeks. I understand at the completion of his appointment as RSM of Depot Para John was commissioned and retired as a Captain or possibly a Major.
If possible could your association put me in touch with him. Both he and his lovely wife Yvonne were very kind to me and many of the guys in my company.
The following is my contact information.
Thank you in advance.
AIRBORNE,

MessageContacted Bob today as per below. Got a spirited response & he asks me to pass on his regards to all who knew him from the Falklands trip. Bob was and still is a great friend of 3 Para, right from the outset he took to the guys on the Canberra.
Was good to make contact again after so many years. JR

MessageReceived on gmail if anyone can help.
Hello,

I wondered if you would be able to help me. My father, Bob McGowan covered the Falklands War for the Daily Express and spent the majority of his time with 3 para and Colonel H. He wrote, Don't Cry for Me Sergeant Major with Jeremy Hands which was passionately written for 3 para and those who fought in the war.

I hope you all remember him. If you do you'll remember that he's a real character and a brilliant and caring man. So the short story is that he has cancer but don't worry he is going to beat it especially with his humour. He's nicknamed the tumours, Ralph and the Boys!

As I'm sure all of you know, having support is one of the most powerful things to get you through anything so I wondered if some of you who may remember him would drop him a line or give him a call and just say, "So how's Ralph and the Boys?". He a tough guy who can get through anything even alone but I know how much just one call from any of you would give him more strength to beat this bloody thing!

It would be even better if when asked how you got his number or email that you just say to him, "I cannot reveal my sources".

His number is +34 617 064 014 and his email is [email protected]

Thank you so much for this and thank you for all your bravery which undoubtedly is never appreciated enough.

Kindest regards,

Emma
