MessageHi folks. My dad WB Hembree was a plank owner in 43. Any chance there are some pictures of the crew on-board I might be able to look through to see if he is visible?

MessageHello Spangler mates, family, & friends! Just had to give a shout out to y'all as we remembered & honored you on another Veteran's Day! My HS students enjoy the stories & pics I show them of the men that served on the Spangler named after my beloved Uncle. Miss seeing you at the reunions...maybe it's time for another? Best Regards to all!♡♡♡

MessageDoes anyone working with your site know if you have the video showing about ten seconds of your ship in choppy seas? It also has DD 702 making a high-line transfer and taking on fuel from an oiler I guess. If not, let me know and I will get it to you free. I didn't see it on the site. [email protected]

MessageJust browsed the 1957 Cruise book and came across my picture on page 8. I'm the guy in the bosun's chair. Thanks for taking care me, Spangler. The commodore loved to use me as an excuse to give his ships highline drill on Sunday mornings. Sorry, guys.

MessageExcept for the Guestbook, not much to print lately. Sad to say! The Spangler world has gone quite. On the other hand, some news we would rather not have to print.

MessageWayne,
My computer has no new Spangler news since Sept 2015. Is it my computer or has the web site lost new news?

MessageI am remembering some of the things I want to forget. Mid watch, quarterdeck Christmas dec25 1953. If I r ember it was cold on San Diego. We were moored to the the Piedmont. I have a pic that shows our girl all decked out for Christmas. Some once told me you only remember the good times. I swear I remember every import mid watch that I ever stood. The seamen in the gunnery/deck did not like to stand bow and ster watch when I was PO of the watch. I required them to stand the watch and not asleep in the paint locker or on the life jackets at the stern depth charge rack. One even accused me of being chicken s--t. I had the crow stripes and was responsible for the safety and security of the ship. Accepting responsibility was one of the reasons I made 1st class in less than 4 years and the stay Seaman
