MessageI lived in the AMS barracks from Sept. 1975 until Sept. 1977. I worked with the other "Black Crows" in the ECM shop, mostly during nights. I recall working on the Buffs on winter nights with that bitter cold air and skin splitting wind. I also recall the most beautiful summers spent fishing, biking, hiking, and camping. The people there were the strongest willed and most dedicated group I ever had the honor to work with. Miss the UP but plan to return one day to visit the museum (in the summer).

MessageMy late husband was the Civil Engineering Commander at KIS for 3 years in the late 60's-early 70's. After moving all over the country, it was a real surprise to have all four kids graduate from U.P. high schools -- 2 from Guinn and 2 from Escanaba, where we moved after he retired. We all loved the U.P and have loads of good memories of the base.

MessageI had the honor of visiting Sawyer AFB last wek, while on a vacation. I am retired Army and the closets I have ever been to a B-52 was having one do an "Arc_light" strike for me in Vietnam. I did pat the "old bird" with affection - for all of you. A special salute to all who served the old war-birds.

MessageI was stationed at K.I. from 1972 thru 1976, assigned to 410 OMS Bomber branch. The last aircraft that I was crew chief on was 60-044. My wife of 36 years is from Munising. Her family still lives there so we make trips to the U.P. when we are able. I love the beauty of the U.P. and am looking forward to visiting the museum.

MessageHi Bob, we toured the museum last Sat. the 17th, with our nephew Paul Sonnenberg. We are the ones who also talked with you the afternoon before while looking at the static display of the B-52. We so enjoyed meeting you and hearing all about KI Sawyer. Thanks again for your time. Oh...we just found out you met Steve's parents, Bruce & Ruth Conradson at the Credit Union picnic in Gwinn this summer! Small world....
