MessageLeft KI Sawyer in March of 83 went home to Ia and have lived here ever since.Security Police night shift D flt. Loved the UP not many jobs during the recession of the 80's. I remember looking and wanting to stay. Too young and dumb to stay in the AF. I remember the physical beauty of the area and how sweet the air smelled. All the guys on my flt were so welcoming to the new guy. What a great time!
I think of you guys and the UP often.

MessageI was in the 410th SPS (D flt) from Dec 79 thru Aug 83. I see Tony Lancia signed the guestbook. I will say my time at KI was fun. The winters got cold, but the summers were fantastic.
Anyone remember Shawn Carver? He's my brother in law now. His wife Barb and my wife Terri are sisters (from the UP). Anybody that recognizes my name, drop me an e-mail or I'm on Facebook.

MessagesmilieAwsome, Stationed 1981/83 D flight 410 SPS Tsgt Fowler flight chief. I have noticed some names posted I recognize and would love too hear from more. I have kept in contact with Reid Adams, Jeff Jacobs and Joe Wilcox, seeking out Andy Grubbe, Josh Hatcher, Tim Hayes, Herb Whelpley,Dale Newman, Wally ?, Dave Inglis, ? Harmon, Jeff Proctor and anyone else from this era. Time has diminished my memory of names but have not lost the memory of time spent in the UP with these guys. Serving in the USAF guarding nukes and carrying massive firepower is quite humbling to say the least, many lessons learned and missed out on. In hindsight a career would have been a great option if I was more focused. Nothing lost but would do it all over if I could, life is good now married with two kids (15g/24b). I am currently a career firefighter 20+yrs in the fire service and 16 career.A reunion back in the UP is a goal I wish to achieve and is high on my bucket list, hope to hear from others who come across this post and willing to join in. Be safe and thank you for this opportunity to reunite with others that have had a huge impact on my life. Tony Lancia.

MessageI lived in the AMS barracks from Sept. 1975 until Sept. 1977. I worked with the other "Black Crows" in the ECM shop, mostly during nights. I recall working on the Buffs on winter nights with that bitter cold air and skin splitting wind. I also recall the most beautiful summers spent fishing, biking, hiking, and camping. The people there were the strongest willed and most dedicated group I ever had the honor to work with. Miss the UP but plan to return one day to visit the museum (in the summer).
