MessageI'm not sure that the Bible EVER makes a reference to a "career woman" Andy... Which things that people are saying are "disagreeing with things she didn't say"... Out of curiosity... There are a LOT of blogs, and I'm busy, so don't leave us guessing, say exactly what you disagree with... smilie

MessagePetra I'm really enjoying your posts. I look forward to your response.

I would like to point out that the woman described in Proverbs 31 is not a career woman. All of the work she does is in support of her husband and family not in the pursuit of a career.

I've noticed that most of the posts disagreeing with Petra are disagreeing with things she didn't say, so I would challenge each of her critics to read a little more closely before bringing their rebuttals.

I would also like to add that I believe the behavior and actions of ones children are a reflection of the parenting they receive no matter what the child's age is. It is our responsibility as parents to ensure that our children have the type of Christian walk and character that will ensure they make the right decisions. My two young teenagers could very well make some poor choices in the years to come, and yes that will mean I probably fell short somewhere as a parent. That is why I won't/don't judge Palin or any parent, but that does not mean I'm not, or any parent is not accountable.

oh and one last thing, the thought of Barack Hussein Obama as President of this great country scares me.

MessageGreat topic!

I saw her speech last night and was VERY impressed. I'm a huge fan. She made me laugh, she made me tear up and she made me have real hope (not just dreams)for our country.

I love the fact that she is a mom. She is a real mom that has real family issues. The fact that her daughter is pregnant, makes her even more real to me. We need someone in the White House who understands what real families go through and are struggling with. They will be able to bring REAL issues to the table, not just what politicians think is popular. I loved to hear her say that parents with childrn with special needs will (possibly) have an advocate in the White House. What a blessing for those families!

Seeing her family last night support her, was beautiful. It takes a family to raise a family. Her husband seems like a loving and devoting father and a family man. He was holding his son much of the time. Her son is in great hands with him. Plus, there are other kids around to help out as well. I have no problem with her being a Vice President with a family. It shows girls you can do anything. Being a wife and homemaker is not for everyone. If you have the family support, I say go for it! Do us proud! smilie

MessageTrish- I wasn't sure who you were referring to in your post, but since I used the "I think" and "In my opinion" I decided to answer. I am a secular Humanist and most would classify me as an atheiest, as I believe in evolution as oppose to a God. With that said, I base my beliefs and morals on what I feel is humane and in the best interest of the majority of people and not in a select exclusive group who believe this way or that way. I am neither Democrat, Republican or Independant, although I've been called a liberal before. I make my political choices on the information that I have available to me, my intelect (which some might question smilie ) and how I think my choices might affect others, our country and our survival in this world.

Like you stated, everyone comes to the table with THEIR life experiences and how THEY interpret what ever it is they believe in or don't. And since religion is so subjective to those believing it, it should be left out of running our country....in my opinion smilie However, I guess one could argue everything in politics is subjective and so it's a good thing we are a democracy.

MessageAs I read the comments I read, "In my opinion", "I think" or "what happened in history". What is the criteria for our opinions or what we believe? It is what we feel comfortable with? Is it what we have been taught in school, by our parents or on TV? How can we examine our positions and tell if they are correct? Islamist base what they think and do on the Koran. Secular Humanist base their beliefs and positions on their reasoning ability and reject the spiritual regarding any moral decision-making. Buddhist decide based on what Buddha taught. If we call our selves Christians [little Christs] we base our decisions on the Bible. Look at what you have decided regarding this issue and see which category of the above you fit into. Maybe your position a smorgasbord of ideas. Are you taking part of what you believe from the Secular Humanist part from Christianity. It always amazes me how we say we believe the Bible but only pick out the parts we like and ignore the parts we don't.
