Messageshe has a strong support system. As for her teenage daughter, the fact that she is supporting her daughter unconditionally and her daughter’s decision says a whole heck of a lot. Teenagers have a mind of their own and even with the BEST parents, if the want is strong enough, parents aren’t going to stop them from doing anything.

I heard her speaking and she said ""Here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion. I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country." HOW REFRESHING! I like her. I don't like all of her stances, but I do like a lot of them. She appears to be an incredible woman, although I don't know extensive details on her. Too Bad she is running with McCain.

MessageAlthough I don't agree on the "women are here to serve their man" and stuff, as I think it's a partnership and mutual nurturance on both parts....I do agree that someone, mother or father needs to be home caring for their children, if they decide to have children and if it's possible. Tommy and I live payday to payday with ONE income so that I can stay at home with the kids. I take care of all the things that he isn't able to because he's at work and it relieves stress off everyone that way, I think. I do believe woman can be leaders and have careers, but they shouldn't sacrifice their children for those things. I mean what child would rather be stuck in daycare or with a nanny as oppose to be held, loved and cared for by mom?

With that said though....

In my opinion, there's no such thing as a man's job or women's job; it's whoever can do the job best. I don't think it would be fair for government to be so conservative that they themselves restrict the rights of individuals who don't feel the same as them. I do not want a government who bases their political beliefs on religion because not everyone believes the same here.

I mean how would you like government to step in and say you can only have three children because after that, you can’t properly give attention to them. That’s basically what you are saying about Palin, that she isn’t capable of being a good mother because a lot of her time is alloted to her career, even though it appears.....next page

MessageWe should look for examples in the Bible. I see no examples of Godly women who gave the care of their children to others.

Esther was Queen but there is no mention of her ever having children either in the Bible or history.

Deborah was a Judge of the Nation of Israel and is called a mother (JDG 5smilie. There is no account of her children in the Bible which may mean: a] that she did have children but who they were had no bearing on the story in Judges chapter four so their were omitted. b] that she was actually childless but that she was a spiritual mother to the nation. c] her children were grown and no longer in the home.

I agree with Petra and Kendra. But does this mean God punishes those women that leave their children to others to raise or have a different way of doing things? No. But they and their family may not have all the blessings available to them that God wants to give them.

As an older woman whose children are all grown, I can honestly say that looking back I have no regrets that I stayed at home with my children. In fact I hear the opposite from my peers. I get calls from women who at my age are looking back and crying because they missed so much of their children's lives because they were at work.

MessageNo where in the Bible does it discourage or say women shouldn't be in positions of "leadership" like VP.

Esther was Queen
Deborah was a Judge of the Nation of Isreal

I have to say I disagree with your posting. Will go into more detail later - have to do this thing called "work" smilie .

MessageI have been thinking over national politics in my life time. I am having trouble thinking of a prominent national politician who took proper care of their household. It seems to me they all shamefully neglect their family in their single minded pursuit of power. We have a systemic problem with the way we select our leadership. It corrupts the leaders because we refuse to elect anyone but whores. It seems to me that Palin is not as far along in the corruption process as most. I was dead set on voting independent, but I am reconsidering. As far as who is taking care of her family, my reading says that their extended family is taking care of them. Of that, I heartily approve. As far as holding her accountable for the actions of her teenager, we'll have to talk that over again in about fifteen years after you have watched in amazement as your children did exactly as they pleased. I just pray yours aren't as bad as I was, or mine were, or Palin's is. The promise from the Bible is that when they are old they will not depart from it. That does not include their teenaged years when the hormones make them insane.

MessageYeah, I have MORE to say, nowhere does the Bible forbid a woman from working outside the home... Yeah, you mention that verse in Titus, but so long as the woman loves and cares for her husband and children, it's fine. I would counter though your Titus reference to Proverbs 31, check that one out... There are many examples in the Bible of women in leadership roles... Each man and woman have different talents, the key is that when a man and a woman become "one", they use their "talents" for the best... Perhaps some men can cook better than their wives, and so they do the cooking, is that wrong, no, they simply evaluate their collective "talents" and put them to use in the best way that enhances their "oneness"... Well, I could go on and on, but I don't want to fill up your ENTIRE comments page... smilie

Is there anything wrong with a woman just staying home and tending to her family and husband? Of course not, but do they HAVE to?? Of course not... Well, they have to tend to their families and husbands, but that doesn't mean, as in the case of Palin, that she can't work and he can't stay home and tend to the family... smilie

MessageHate to "burst" your little bubble there Kendra, but no, it's not "very clearly written in the Bible", it may be in YOUR interpretation of it though I suppose... smilie

I welcome debates on this topic I might add... smilie
