MessageI was truly glad when I found this site. I remember listening to The Blackwood Brothers Quartet as a child. I guess we had every one of the vinyl albums; but over time they wore out and I didn't ever think I could replace them until now. I just ordered the 5 CD boxed set and will give them to my dad as a gift. We were all pleased to attend the anniversary event in Clanton, Alabama. My dad, two brothers, and myself form a local Quartet in the Selma, Al. area and have always been very much inspired by The whole Blackwood family. There's no telling how many others that can say the same thing. My dad is retired from secular work but makes flower arrangements to sell. As he sits arranging flowers he listens to the Blackwood Brothers Quartet all day long. My mom says he even wakes her up sometimes singing in his sleep. I would just like to say Jimmy, We love you and your family. Keep the flame burning!!
May God continue to richly bless you and your ministry.

I'm so sorry that I didn't know about this sooner. The greatest has left us. So sad. So, so sad.

MessageDear Blackwoods,

Thank you for your music and ministry. James was the greatest singer ever. The group with JD Sumner was the best. God bless you.

MessageJames Blackwood was a wonderful person and I do so miss him. He left a huge void in the world of gospel music and I belive one that can't be filled again. James was the gold standard both on and off the stage and I hope to some day meet him again in the morning.

MessageI enjoyed watching James Blackwood on the Gaither tapes. Truely an inspiration to other Gospel singers, and to those of us who listened to his songs.

MessageThe first time I ever heard of the Blackwoods was when I was reading something on Elvis Presley. I never knew that Elvis was so fond of them. Anyway, I read somewhere that James said he along with JD Sumner and Hovie Lister sang backstage at a Gospel Music convention with Elvis--the song they sang was How Great Thou Art. James said he'd like to re-unite that quartet in Heaven someday and sing that song there. I suppose that's just what he's getting ready to do.

God Bless.
