MessageI served as a fixed-wing aircraft mechanic. My ship was an L-19 Serial # 5012 located at the airfield in Fulda, Germany. I served from 1958'til 1960. I have a yearbook from 1960 and it has all of the 14th listed, Fulda, Bad Hersfeld and Bad Kissingen. I used to make gas runs from Fulda to BH & BK. When I would go thru some of the towns where the road was narrow and both sides of the street were lined with homes or businesses, I would shut of the engine until I got right in the center of town and then switch on the ignition. Know what happened then?? smilie Our pilots used to do the same with their helicopters in the air, and you should have seen the activity of the east germans who were cultivating the unfenced strips of the east/west border. smilie
