MessageC/Troop/2Plt/FirstRecon/Sq/14th/A/Cav.Regement.I have read all the post and am amazed to find some familiar names after all these years. I myself have only spoke to two people I was in Germany with 1960 1963. Kennith Obenhouf, and Phillip Socwell. Found them with the help of WhitePages.
When I rotated back to the States, I borrowed a 8mm movie camera from Phillip so as to take pictures on the ship going home. (USS ROSE)I promiced to mail his camera back to him, and I did. So when I found his phone number on white pages this year 2010 I gave him a call and out of the blue asked did you get your camera back. He didn't know what I was talking about. So I ask did he serve in Germany in the 60s. Did he know Dennis King. Oh yea he said, you are the one that got court marshaled for fighting with the MP's in Tony's Bar. That just go's to show how guick people are to remember the good versus the bad.

Just a note to let you all know. I have lots of pictures however none of the 8mm came out. also I have eight daily news papers from the USS Rose with maps ploting the trip home giving speed corse Lon/lat. ect. I also have list of names, and qulifing scores on the 45cal pistol, and 45cal submachine range. I have EM club cards marking the days till time to go home. Remmember when guys got short, made a swager from 90mm primer and a 50cal round carried it around and would yell SHHOOORRRRT. I also have lables from beer and wine bottles, oh, and some costers. I even have a copy of the Star

MessageI guess my PTSD smilie is acting up. I forgot to post my email address for anyone interested in contacting me: I can be emailed at: [email protected] or [email protected]. I look forward to trading stories with other troopers of the 14th A.C.R. during the period of Feb 1965 to Oct 1966 or therebouts. Then off to Nam. I was with HHC at first, but transferred to B Company. It was a pleasure to serve under that CO smilie .

MessageI was just browsing and ran across a picture of the "Border Belle" tank that sat out on Kettlerstrasse in front of the Kaserne. Can anyone let us know what happened to the Belle? Hopefully, she got put in a museum somewhere.
