MessageHello,

We were talking about upcoming travel and family history and decided to see what we could see on the Web about Dilton. Looks like a lovely town, and apparently our family name has some historical roots.

We may see you in '08.

Messagesmilie smilie smilie smilie I am wondering if there is any image, drawing or painting of Dilton Manor. My ancestor John Bushe was granted the manor in 1540, I believe there was a corn mill and fulling mill attached. I am collating my family history into a photo album and would love an image of the manor to include with my Bushe history.
An after thought - John's line was from William Busshe of Dilton - he married a Miss Strange who was a co-heiress of Gloucestershire, she is very difficult to trace, maybe someone local has information about her. One of their sons was Paul Bushe who became the first Bishop of Bristol.
Do hope someone can help with both queries.

MessageVery interesting to view the pictures after leaving the villiage over twenty years ago. What a wonderfull childhood I had running wild in the fields, getting stuck in the old hollow tree behind the Breach and swinging across the Hollow!

MessageG'day mates,
We do miss our friends in Dilton, in fact we have just been chatting to Dave Dalton who used to work in the hairdressers...I, (Karen)had the Kings Arms for 5 years and Colin is Dilton bred and used to hold pop quizzes in the Kinga.
We have lived near Perth, W.A.for nearly 4 years and still busy exploring....
Love it here but not crazy about all the things that bite!

smilie

MessageHi,
My family name has strong ties to Dilton and DM throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.
Most of my ancestors were 'weavers' in the town. I am looking for material relating to the working conditions of weavers in that period.
Thanks,
Jon
