MessageSpent 16 of my childhood years in DM. Have memories of entering the local carnival with my brother and sister as The Dilton Martians in the year that man (allegedly) walked on the moon. My Mother was the local Nurse-Midwife, and my Father worked at the nurseries growing geraniums and tomatoes - I learned the origins of 'green fingers' from his work!
Life was idyllic in the village then. It's grown SO large now.
Just wanted to wish the residents as much fun as I had whilst growing up in the vilage. smilie smilie

MessageWonder if anyone remembers the Prince family late 1890s/1900's - my grandfather Kenneth Frederick Charles was born in 1906 - had brothers Jack and Robert and sister Gwynneth. GF was Frederick Prince and GM was Emily.

Planning to visit Dilton Marsh in next few days to explore and photograph!

many thanks, Linda

MessageIf anyone in the village or surrounding area has any information about the Collier family who lived in and around Dilton and Dilton Marsh from the 1700's until the early 20th century, I would be glad to hear from them. My GG Grandfather used to live in "The Firs".
