MessageHello Jimmy:
I count it a blessing to be able to contact a friend I became acquainted with 30 years ago at the Blackwood School of Music in Murray, KY. It seems the 30 years have been good to you and that your ministry is prospering for which I am thankful. I'm sure your ministry still brings peace to troubled hearts and healing for the soul as it did to me and my family. I saw the James Blackwood Special on INSP several weeks ago and was truly blessed and filled with warm memories. For the past 10 years I have been a "stay-at-home daughter" caring for my dad who will is now 89 years of age. Since January, it was been a 24/7 job but I am so thankful I have been given the opportunity to be with my dad all of this time. He has always been and still is my spiritual mentor; our conversations center on prophecy which is center of his thoughts.

My best to you and yours as you continue spreading the joy of serving God to others.

Dee

MessageDear Jimmy Blackwood,
My name is Bill Guilmette from Fall River, Massachusetts. I became a Christian about thirty years ago and got hooked on Gospel music ever since. I have ten children; three biological and seven adopted. Our beloved Christina who would have been 6 years old this past March, passed away last October from a mitochondral disease. Anastasia, 5, is a brain cancer surviver and has been cancer free since her tumor was removed at eight months old. Hunter, 3, has multiple birth defects but is no longer what they call, "Failure to thrive. We chose to take medically involved children because of our medical backgrounds and God has truly blessed us for our dedication to them. Each and everytime your father's tribute is on TV, I have to watch it. When you speak of your father he reminds me a great deal of my dad, who passed away on Christmas, 2004. I have been a professional pianist for over 34 years, playing with big and small dance bands. I currently perform with a Country Gospel group called the "Hillside Galileans". I have also written a book, soon to come out by Dorrance Publishing. It's entitled, "Goodbye for Now?" I would like to send you a copy of my book when it comes out in about a month. I have truly loved hearing your voice over the years. If you are performing anywhere could you let me know? God Bless. Sincerely, Bill Guilmette

MessageI have been a fan of the Blackwood Bro. quartet since early 1950, when I was an announcer and DJ with WELR, Roanoke, AL. We featured a 30-minute program of the Blackwood Bros. Quartet daily from 11:30 AM until 12:00. the Blackwood Bros. quartet has always been my favorites. However, I also had anothr gospel singing program from 12:30 until 1:00, featuring various other quartets. It was a very popular program with our station, and I was the only staff member who was involved in quartet singing and gospel presentations from local pastors in the area.
The passing of Jimmy Blackwood was a very sad day in gospel music. He is and will be sorely missed. Louis McClure. smilie

Messagesmilie What powerful concerts in Florida. Thanks for allowing the quartet to be part of our Annual Winter vacation to a warmer climate.
Each time gets better and better Praising the Lord in SONG. The Johnson's were ready for some positive family atmosphere for all ages.
Bring's back my personal family memories growing up with you and the Blackwoods in the 70's.
My parents even mentioned hearing you in Arizona the quartet is just as good if not better then the early years. In our prayers - See ya in May!!
PS - Thanks for "Looking for a City" featuring Wayne for MR. J smilie & "Little Talk with Jesus" featuring Randy for MR. J Jr. smilie

MessageDear Jimmy, We so enjoyed the memorial service for Virgil Coffin. It was a real lift to hear your message in words and song. We are long time friends of the Coffins so we can only begin to imagine what it meant to them to have your contributions to the service and to their lives. In Jesus, Joyce

MessageWhat an inspiration the Blackwoods are. Their musical talent is phenomenal. I am 50 years of age at present. When I was a youngster(back in the early '60's), my older cousin out in the country had an album of the Blackwood Brothers Quartet. The sound of the quartet was awesome. I was so captivated by the rich sounds of the members of the quartet. I probably never ever heard a quartet that good since nor I dare say will I ever in the future. James Blackwood definately has a distinct voice that is a characteristic Blackwood voice and so does RW. It's been every bit of 40 years plus since I heard the baritone voice of R.W.. I recently purchased the 1951/1958 VCR tape of the Blackwoods. Totally awesome. There was that baritone voice that I hadn't hear for some 40-years. What a team. What a tradgedy. James was deeply effected by the loss of RW and Bill Lyle. You know that in the 50 years and 8 months I have lived I never even knew about the plane crash in Clanton, Arkansas untill just a week or so ago. The plane crash occurred approximately 8-months prior to my birth. But it does explain many of the missing pieces throughout the years. The void if you will. My sympathy to the Blackwood family and also my gratitude to them for their continuing on with their ministry even under those extremely difficult circumstances.

MessageHi Jimmy,
In checking your site update, nostalgia became the order of the day in remembering your Dad. You look so much as he did back in my very early days of knowing him, and the others. Especially R.W. who was my mentor.
Thank you, for allowing my memories to come forth.

Love and God Bless,
Sandy (Slayden) McAllister
