MessageShawn was an outstanding representative not only to the fighters he coached, but to the entire sport of MMA. Shawn was always willing to lend a hand, give advise, or help out in anyway needed.

Thank you Shawn for all you did, and for being my friend. To his new wife Emile, I am so sorry for you loss.

To Sam, Mark and Chris, your coach was one of a kind, no one will ever take his place, You all know that Shawn was much more than a coach. He was a mentor, a confidant and a person that told me many times how very proud he was of each of you, not only as fighters, but as men.

God Bless you Shawn. you were and will always be a special part of MMA. I will miss you.

MessageAfter an unsuccessful run as an MMA fighter, I started to find my niche as a striking coach and for the past few years I've told everyone I wanted to be the next Shawn Tompkins, professionally and personally. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this rough time. RIP Shawn, you will be greatly missed.

MessageTHE COACH will be missed. His legacy will live on through the people that he has influenced. I am fortunate to be one of those people. My father and I met Shawn over 2 years ago at the Paradise Warrior Retreat Seminar in Dana Point. We clicked right away and I was fortunate enough to be offered a chance to stay with Shawn and his wife, Emilie, while I learned from him in Vegas. I was brought to Vegas to train as a coach and not as fighter. Shawn understood that my passion was to be a coach and not a fighter. I learned so much on that trip and continued to learn from him after that trip.
I truly look look up to THE COACH as a mentor, teacher and friend. His coaching style is unlike no other and he is unlike no other. I hope that one day I can be where his legacy is.
THE COACH BELIEVED IN ME AND HELPED ME BELIEVE IN MYSELF!
Thank you COACH for being a major influence on me and helping me believe in myself. You helped me become the coach I am today. I will help continue your legacy by teaching others what you have taught me.
REST IN PEACE my friend, mentor and COACH!
My heart goes out to Emilie, Sam and all of TEAM TOMPKINS.
You Will Be Missed!

MessageI never knew Shawn personally, but I certainly knew who he was. He's responsible for a lot of the technical fighting we see today. He may be gone but his coaching and training lives through every fighter he's worked with. So in that sense he'll live on forever. RIP Shawn, you'll be missed

MessageA role model for many. Didn't matter if you knew him for 10 years or 10 days. You knew right away you were in the presence of someone great. Without saying much, he showed his value by how he valued others. Shawn will be a legend, it's already started.

MessageI met Shawn a couple times, first at Xtreme Couture i dropped in to meet some pros and the famous Coach during a vaca weekend... He went out of his way from working with Erin Toughill to come talk to me about training and who was in the gym and things they have coming up, then to take pictures and sign stuff... since then i've met alot of fight industry people and "The Coach" stood out among them all of the most genuine, down to earth, respectful guy i've met. A true ambassador of the sport and a guy i'm very sad i never got to personally train with.

Sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. He will be missed.

MessageShawn,
You brought out the best in all of those around you, and Im not just talking about the gym. You had an infectious smile and deeply cared about those that you welcomed into your fold.

Thanks so much for all that you have done for my friends and helping them achieve success in MMA. You're passing has come way too soon and you will be missed.

Safe travels, my friend.

Jason

MessageI met Shawn working with the IFL. Over the years my wife and I would see him and developed a friendship with him. He was always such a selfless and kind person, often passing credit onto others and wishing everyone well. Elisabeth and I were happy to get to talk and hang out with Shawn at the UFC Fan Expo in Toronto. We made sure to give him some gear for his wife and for Mark's wife and new baby. I personally lost my father suddenly and I know what a horrible shock it is to a family. Just know this---to all of Team Tompkins----whatever successes you have going forward in life, will be a reflection and tribute to the teachings and memory of The Coach. God Bless Shawn---he just gained another soldier in heaven
