| Message | I only knew Nick for a short period of time, but in that time I was able to see how kind and caring an individual he was. Nick volunteered his time to meet with me to advise and talk about my career and academic progressions. He was open with his past and reassuring about the future. I learned a lot from our meetings and will value his words as I move forward. The loss I felt was shocking and confusing to say the least, and I can only imagine the loss felt by those closer to Nick. I have not had the opportunity to meet his family, but if an opportunity to give back arises, I hope that I will be in a position to help. Nick is and will remain an inspiration for me and many others. |

| Message | Such a miserable shocking loss. Ride that route at least twice a week since it's opening. Remember riding the freeway the day it was open for bikers. One of what should have been one of the safest areas in San Diego. I'll be riding the Tour de Poway in memorial for Nick. Best wishes to the family. |

I too have not kept in touch since high school but like so many others who commented here, I have a clear memory of his smile, his sincere heart, and his kind soul. | Message | I did not know Nick but I sure wish I had. Many years ago I made a most unusual trip as a guest on a US Navy gunboat from the Washington (DC) Navy Yard to the Naval Academy at Annapolis. When the USS Whirlwind passed south along the Potomac River and began to approach Mt. Vernon, Virginia, all possible Navy personnel and myself, stood along the starboard rail at attention facing our first President's estate. One of the Navy chiefs aboard saluted on behalf of all aboard. This ceremony is known as "Rendering Honors." Every time I drive along SR 56 in either direction, between Camino del Sur and Black Mountain Road, I shut off my radio and Render Honors to Nick Venuto. I think about him and his family. Inspired by Nick, during the last weeks I have done more with my bicycle than I have ever done and will continue to to do even more. I will never forget Nick Venuto, even though I did not have the chance to meet him. Like many others there are no words that I can say or write that can truly express my feelings for the Venuto Family. I saw them all at the Ride/Walk. Someday I would like to meet them. |

| Message | Dear Nick's family: I want you to know that I think of him whenever I get on my bike; I started riding just around the time of the tragedy. I have his picture from the memorial on a book shelf in my house, it will remain there. My six year old daughter asked me who the man in the picture was, I said "my friend Nick" and hugged her. | Message | Our Sunday Bible Study at First Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama has been praying for the recovery of Baron who was involved in the accident with Nick. Reggie Quimby is Baron's cousin & he goes to church with us & asked us all to pray for Baron. I just went to Nick's website & viewed the family photos of him & his beautiful wife, son & daughter. It appears to me that the 4 of them "lived" more during those years together than most people live in a lifetime. What a legacy to leave your family..."Love" for family & "TIME" lovingly spent with them! I know Nick will be missed by ALL of those who loved him but from the loving eyes of this young man, I truly believe that he is more alive than ever. A legacy of LOVE lives on indefinitely!
