MessageIs there a way we can help support Emma Fay?
The script could be re-written in Sacramento and other cities where the victims are elderly people with assets who are routinely conserved for the benefit of courts, attorneys and fiduciaries. It's heartbreaking to see such rampant corruption in our systems against minorities and other groups who cannot defend themselves for profit and greed of others.
Hats off to all for taking standing up and shining a light on evil. Keep up the fight.

MessageJust to add, thank you to Regina for your courage for your determination and for your strength. We are dedicated to remembering you and your children and those facing the same struggle. We especially wish, hope, and pray for the best for your girls, and all the innocent children affected by injustice here in the US, to have a safe, healthy, and hopeful future.

We will continue to do what we can to fight this insidious, deceitful, and devious racist institutional policy.

MessageMy husband and friends of ours just watched American Violet and were left so disturbed and dumbfounded to see this face of racism in America. We all were so very disheartened to see the extent of threats, intimidation, and the complete destruction of innocent lives and families. What a calculated system, that is skinning hope alive, taking away dignity, resources, THE RIGHT TO VOTE!, and the right to livelihood. You can't get ahead if you want to! The DA portrayed in the film was the same as Saddam Hussain with his crony system, threats and intimidation. Unbelievable! I hope we can find a way to make a difference for you and for others in your community.

MessageJust wanted to say thanks for standing up. You are very courageous.
I hope that your story will reach more people not only in the African-American community but in all communities throughout Texas and across the USA. As a country and as a people, we have come a long way……………..but we still have a long way to go. Your case and your fight against the system shows us that there is still racial injustice in this country and I feel sorry for those people who believe that doesn’t exist anymore – they are clueless and out of touch.
America is suppose to be the greatest country in the world and how many of the 2 million plus people incarcerated in prison are truly guilty??? I’m sure the number would shock us if we could ever really know how many people have been wrongly convicted solely because of their race.
Not only has (well it would have had you not stood up for yourself) the justice system failed the people of this country again but so has the political system in enabling this dude to be able to be re-elected to public office (the top law enforcement office in the county).
And white people still don’t understand why black / African-American people are upset.
Thank you for sharing your story and I wish all the best in all your endeavors.

MessageRegina,

I appreciate your courage in dealing with your case and also your follow through on issues related to wrongful convictions. Over twenty years ago I covered a case as a reporter where an innocent man was sent to prison for a double homicide that he had nothing to do with. That's not just my assessment of that case but also the opinion of some of the initial investigators. That defendant is still in prison 27 years later despite the efforts of some of us to prompt an official re-investigation.

Whether the case involves drugs, murder, or any other crime, the brutal truth is that the poor, and in particular people of color, are more likely to suffer wrongful arrests and wrongful convictions. This trend will never change unless people like you finally stand up and say "Enough!"

Keep up the great work. I'll look forward to buying your book when it's available.

MessageRegina,

Yours is an inspiring story and your strength is a true gift from god. Being hispanic Living in California and experiencing racial injustice is a way of life for me and all hispanics - the things I have seen and heard would make a weaker man turn his back on this country and that a true injustice. It is mind-boggling that today the year 2009 that we have made advances with President Obama yet minorities are victims of hate every day and it must be stopped. So stay strong and keep up the fight as you provide the guiding light within the darkness of hate!
