MessageMy family, Cagney, owned and lived in Ballymartle house from approx 1955 to 1960. My father farmed the land, approx 350 acres. We moved to the US in 1960. I was born in 1956 and remember sitting in the round window which was on the way up the stairs when I was a toddler. I have pictures of it from when we lived there. I visited it many times through the years and have always felt it a shame to see it going to ruins but thanks for the pictures. They are beautiful.

MessageFantastic site!
I am amazed by the beautiful, imposing abandoned buildings here in Ireland.Even just the small houses leave me stunned, how many have just been left, rotting furniture and all. I have been here for two years now (from UK) and I am drawn to these buildings like a magnet! I often take off with my camera (and my mobile... just incase I fall through the odd old floor) I am so pleased to see that there are others like me out there! smilie

Reply from T.B: My Doonass pages were removed at the request of the land owner. I've got another project in progress at the moment which will however include Doonass....

MessageStumbled randomly onto this site and I think its amazing! I've always been fascinated with places such as Loftus Hall and have always wondered what they looked like inside and I've also visited some of these places so its great to have pictures to look at. Many thanks and keep up the good work! smilie

MessageGreat site! Love the ghost in the doorway. We've been exploring abandon mines here in California. There are over 34,000 in CA alone. Lots of great photo ops. Let me know and I can send you a Photobucket link. Good work here.

MessageFound this amazing webpage by coincidence. I have always been facinated by the sad forlorn houses, especially those Irish ones - why I dont know.
But most of the houses posses some kind of beauty in their decay, some sadness, a glimpse of days gone by, and they speak so strongly to your imagination. Who lived there, what happened and so on. And some you fantasise about saving. Most are lost an beyond saving, but still the photographic record is a delight and joy. Must be so much fun to go and explore - be a true country house snooper. I strongly recommend two books by John Harris, No Voice from the Hall and Echoing Voices for more of the sort! smilie
