MessageVery sad to see so many great works of art falling and crumbling to pieces.

I live near (6miles) Glyde Court and wondered in about 12 years ago. At that time the house was in relatively good condition compared to your picts. I was blown away by what I saw. I was able to go up the big stair case and wonder around the upper part of the house by picking my steps in some rooms. In the big kitchen there were some pots and old racks and other items. The big fire places were amazing and the window shuttters were in very good condition. The worring signs at the time was the roof had some holes where I assumed lead was stripped off.
Since then images of this great place have flooded into my consciousness from time to time and thoughts about what might have been with a little care!
I was back there about 3 years ago again and was shocked and sadened by the deterioration. A shame of shames...

Well done on preserving and keeping alive if only by pictures of this great lost treasure.

MessageGreat site, well done, many of these houses held bad memories for the local populations, take Woodlawn House that I hid out from school in a few times many years ago, the last Landlord owner was a tyrant who bitterly held out against land reform and was guarded by 6 Black and Tans during war of Independence Period as he evicted many poor people.

The big houses are now a relic of a divided past and its good to see someone document them for the future as they fall into ruin and fade from the landscape.

MessageGreat site. Fascinating checking through the history & photos. Some of the houses I was already familiar with but not visited. Just checked Stephenstown House, Co. Louth and have seen the face of a woman in a doorway on page2.Really sent a shiver down my spine - has anyone else seen it?

Messagegreat site mr.blake.

ive been following this site since it started. one of my favouite places you have visited was the factory in little island in cork i taught it was really eye opening that a recent development could decay so rapily and the fact that loads of computers and the like were left behind.

your website is currently inspiring me to do my dissertation for my masters course i am persuing in town planning here in the uk on the subject of abandoned ireland.

keep up the good work!
