MessageBallisodare Railway Station was the scene of the brutal murder of two unarmed RIC constables in 1921. One of them was my great uncle John James (Jim) Hetherington and the other his collegue Thomas Kelly. They were taken off the Dublin train and shot 100 yards from the Station house by 8 to 10 men.

MessageG"Day ,Williamstown House, used to stay there back in mid 50s as a young boy ,in fact had lost all details of the place ,interesting to note each time we visited even as a young lad noticed less and less furniture to the point all living in the Kitchen , saying Kitchen hardly your normal sized one !!.

Wonder what happened to the family we stayed with .
Just actually finding the place after all this time very exciting ( through your site ) be it a bit sad .

Thanks for that !!

MessageI found this web site very interesting the photos are brilliant they really tell story just by looking at them of each building .i live not to far away from the hell fire we brought our children there when they were young. We had two pet dogs small chihuahuas I took a photo in front of the Hell Fire Club of the dogs,When I got the photo developed a ghostly figure in the back round. It's so scary to look at, you might find it interesting.

MessageDear Mr. Blake
I was stumbling through the internet and came upon your site. After looking at a few of the houses on the site, and enjoying the information, i came across the section for lowville house. You would'nt believe my delight when I seen the donkey in the picture of the house. You see that donkey once belonged to my late grandfather, and I had only recently visited the house to refresh some old memories. It was very nice to learn some of the history behind the house.

Thank you and good luck with your book
Brendan
