MessageHi, I'm Jonathan Lumpkin and I am originally from Alabama, but I'm trying to figure this whole family tree thing out. My father's name is David Marrell Lumpkin and my mother's maiden name was Mary Alice Jackson. My grandfathers name was Jack Marrell Lumpkin and I'm trying to figure out where we came from exactly. I'm pretty sure that we came from Georgia, but my dad and I stopped talking and I never recieved any good information from him about the geneology side of the house. I never knew that there was a Lumpkin County in Georgia until I was stationed at the Ranger camp. I have been interested in it for about 6 years now but due to deployments and such, I simply haven't had the applicable time. If anyone has or knows information, I would be glad to listen. Thank you

MessageMy grandparents were Carder, Grindle, Wigley and Sexton. I noticed that the Heltons married into the Grindle family. I believe that the Carder and Grindle families also married into the Dockery family. I would be interested in any information you may have about the Grindle and Carder families as they relate to the Cherokee people. I always thought my grandmother and her sisters had Indian features, but my mother wouldn't talk with me about that possiblity. One of my great-aunts on the Grindle side had jet-black hair until the day she died. My mother and her siblings all had black hair. My grandmother (Grindle maiden name) had olive skin and high cheekbones. She had black hair that was slightly gray when she died at age 78.
