MessageI didn't know until today (8/20/09) that Kathy had dementia. I know how hard it is to deal with. My father died of dementia three years ago yesterday. This is so sad. I have two of Kathy's books, and love them. I had the pleasure of meeting her 2 1/2 years ago (I think it was.) at the quilt show in Roseburg, Oregon. She is a wonderful lady, who had a great talent. I wish the best for her and her family.

MessageKathy,
You will be missed greatly by the quilting community and we are all saddened by your recent illness and knowing that you will not be able to participate in the future of so many quilters from novice to advanced. My prayers are with you and your family.

MessageKathy, I first met you the C&T Teachers Seminar where we were both teaching. I was fortunate to take a class from you and you opened the world of free-motion quilting to me like no one else had been able to do before. What you taught me has been a lasting source of pleasure and joy to me. My life has changed so much -- I married and moved to a small cattle ranch in Oklahoma last Fall, and we do love it here. I'm still involved in quilting, appraising, judging, speaking, etc. They do a LOT of quilting here, too! I am so sorry to hear of your recent illness, and please know that you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

MessageDear Kathy and family,
Cyber hugs to all--I hope there hasn't been anything negative said about the family's decision-- only you know what's best in your situation.
One day at a time is all you can do, take care of yourselves also. And know your Mom has touched so many people in ways you will never know--
