MessageJust wanted to share a personal Alex Harvey memory. I think it was around 1976 the band came to Jacksonville, FL with Jethro Tull. My uncle, Patrick Hines, knew some of the band members and invited a couple of them, I think the McKennas, out to my parents beach house for dinner and a day at the beach. They had a great time, but my best memory was how my mother embarassed me by greeting them at the door in a long wig, guitar in hand, pretending to be a rock star!! I wanted to die (teenager that I was), but the 2 guys were very nice.
Mother said that she exchanged letters with them for a while, and I do remember seeing the band later on the Midnight Special!

MessageSaw SAHB many times. Got to the Colston Hall early. Heard them soundchecking "Faithealer". Ignored the "No entry" sign,up those grand stairs into the Hall. There on stage are my heroes. Alex gets off the stage and walks up to me and asks me where I have come from. Penzance, I replied. Alex calls out to the rest of the band. "Hey guys...this lad has come all the way from Penzance. They put downtheir instruments, climb off the stage and come towards me. Now I have all my heroes standing around me asking me about me. They sign my copy of framed. Alex signs my copy of the blues band album. Zal jokes about how good looking he was then. He gave me a plectrum. They were so friendly and this is a moment I will always cherish. I live in Penzance again now with my family and have been out of the loop with everything that has been happening. I didnt even know that they reformed. I would like to be kept in touch with any projects/gigs etc. Next year I am comming to Glasgow with aTheatre co. "Wildworks". We will be putting a piece of Theatre with live music in the docks....Quirky characters,Huge cranes, ships and god knows what else....Sounds a bit like a SAHB gig. Come and see it and let me know if there is any chance of hearing some of that rock vauderville again...Love and miss you all. Steve X

MessageI'm a guy from the Netherlands and was never able to see SAHB live but I was a fan for years and still am but for about 2 years ago I went to Aberdeen were my father lives and to my big surprise I found out that the Party Boys were playing in cafe Drummonds and that Cris Glenn and Ted mcKenna were in that band. So I postponed my returnflight and went to see them and it was amazing!! [good!) I was able to have a litle talk with Cris after the gig and how nice he was answering my questions.
I also saw another member of the band and he blew me away completely! Gerry Jablonsky. Awesome singer and guitarplayer!!!!! I have seldom seen a musician doing what he did and have seen quite a lot of them.
Although I have never seen SAHB live this evening made it up a bit for me, espescially because they did a few SAHB-songs.
Kind regards to anyone who reads this and? VAMBO ROOLZ !!!!
