I read both 84 Charing Cross Road and The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street as a teenager (I'm 53 now) and loved and remember both books. I loved visiting this site and learning more about the people Helene Hanff brought to life in her book. |

| Message | Thanks for the lovely website. In 1989 I was working at the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska when we were presented with the shop sign that hung outside Marks & Co. Someone from the Board of Directors at the college had met Helene Hanff on a plane trip and become friends with her. She apparently had the sign and gave it to him. The last time I saw it in 1996 it was still hanging in the lobby. |

| Message | 84 Charing Cross Road is one of my favorite books. I have used the instructions for making Yorkshire Pudding which are in the book, many times! On a long-ago visit to London, my husband took my photo in front of the old store, which appeared to be just a vacated building at that time. But it felt like a sacred place! How wonderful of you to do this website. All the best. |

| Message | I love this small book <84 Charing Cross Road>, a thin book with such deep feelings.I always put it in my bag and read it time to time. The movie is great, but I still think the book is much more than the movie, there is something you have to think over and over with the simple words, and every time when you read it you'll find something old but new to you and it will make you can't help searching the gone but not faded things between the lines.I love British litrature, love everything in London, because you always can find what you are looking for. There is a small piece of fine art paper attached to the front page in Chinese version, it says, "If you happen to pass by 84 Charing Cross Road kiss it for me! I owe it so much." Some day,I will visit London, hope I still can find Marks & Co. in the atmosphere there. |

| Message | Lovely website! I went to London a couple of years ago and found that 84 was no more. So thank you for the photos and the history. Every time I read Helene's books I want to go back to London again, press my nose against the glass of the bus window, and look at everything again as if it were the very first time. Helene Hanff is a kindred spirit to all of us who love London so much. |

| Message | Hi ! well....I don't know what to write ( maybe some apologies for my bad English ...) but I have to say that I have seen "84-Charing Cross Road" with Ann Bancroft and I LOVED the movie ! I have discovered in some scenes and descriptions the same love I have for London. I have read also "The Princess of Bloomsbury Street" and it was a lovely book ! I will recommend to my friends to read Helene's books because her way to describe the various places and the feelings she felt during her visit to London, is superb! I am a lucky woman because I have some English friends and we often excange letters and packages with gifts and surprises , like Helene made with her Library's friends. Helene was an american Lady with an English soul. God bless her. |

| Message | I´ve found the The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street book in a second hand bookshop here in my hometown, I am reading it, and searching the places that are mentioned in the book and the bound with the previos one Helene Hanff´s book, and I just want to express that I´m really enjoying (and even loving) her narrative and the story, I think it´s a wonderful way to learn about London, thank you.
