| Message | Just a note send best wishes to all at the site. As many others have, I discovered Helene Hanff's book and the Bancroft-Hopkins movie, which as a writer remain part of my inspiration to this day. I recently was in London and made the pilgrimage to the site of Marks & Co., and had my picture taken next to the plaque. It was a joyous experience, one that I'll remember fondly, hobnobbing for a short, precious while with all the ghosts and memories that called 84 Charing Cross Road home. God bless that spot and all who visited it while it was there, and continue to stop by and pay respects! |

| Message | Funny that I came across this website after just finished watching the movie with the late great Anne Bancroft and the incomparable Anthony Hopkins. I came across this story as a 'condensed' story in Reader's Digest and I was immediately hooked. I was (and still am) deeply moved by the relationships/friendships of the people in the story. It gave me a glimpse of a more simple, gentile, kinder time where people had good manners, were considerate to each other, and practiced the (almost) lost art of letter writing. I am planning to purchase the whole book for my collection and to read over again...and reacquaint myself with "old friends". |

Can't get enough of reading all about anything to do with her, her work and the people she wrote about. And I am finding it all here. What I particularly appreciate is finding pictures of everyone involved. Once again heartfelt thanks ! |

| Message | Having just read the book in one go, I want to share my feelings about it. First of all, the reading has been quite comforting since it has taken me to the place of my dreams: London. Besides, I feel happy and sad at the same time, because of the love between Helen and Frank, (such a moving story!). I feel sad they didn't meet but relieved for Frank's wife... I have never written a review after reading a book, for the pleasure of it, but I must say it's being a marvellous experience. To sum up, I promise I'll recommend this book to everyone I know. P.S: I'll look for Charing Cross the next time I go to London (soon hopefully!). Sorry for my English...(I'm an English-lover but Spanish by birth...) |

| Message | p.s. My father died on November 27, 2010. In truth what I find in Helene's story, in the film....is love between people who never met. It was strong and it was very powerful and moving. And in reading posts from others from round the world....It tells me that we are ALL the same....we want acceptance....and we want to recieve and to give love w/o fear. Helene, Frank, Nora, Sheila...had that...we all want it. This is in part why her story touches us from around the world. Thank you for your site. David |
