| Message | Hi, Lovely site, remembering a great reader and writer, who spoke for so many of us who love books. I leave Monday night for a long research trip in London. Like every time, I noticed my deteriorating copy of "84", which I first found after returning from studying in London 25 years ago, and which reminded me of how much I loved it. Read "84" and "Duchess" and "Q" all over again this week. Tuesday, I'll walk down Charing Cross Road once again, and stop at 84, and -- as I've done in the past, when no one is looking -- kiss it for Helene. We all owe it so much! |

| Message | Just a note send best wishes to all at the site. As many others have, I discovered Helene Hanff's book and the Bancroft-Hopkins movie, which as a writer remain part of my inspiration to this day. I recently was in London and made the pilgrimage to the site of Marks & Co., and had my picture taken next to the plaque. It was a joyous experience, one that I'll remember fondly, hobnobbing for a short, precious while with all the ghosts and memories that called 84 Charing Cross Road home. God bless that spot and all who visited it while it was there, and continue to stop by and pay respects! |
