MessageDear Mr. Aronofsky,

I am a massive fan of your work, particularly The Fountain which is...well, one of those movies which just got to me. Startlingly beautiful imagery; beyond the themes and narrative, it is an audio-visual artistic masterpiece.

I am a music major in University College Cork, Ireland, and I'm currently doing a project on your changing styles and how they influenced your use of music in Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain and The Wrestler...I joined this site to listen to the commentary on The Fountain, but unfortunately the link doesn't seem to be working. It's an invigorating project and the best mix of study and pleasure that I've embarked on so far.

I thought I'd leave you a note just to thank you for the great work; I've read in interviews that you want your work to affect people and inspire us beyond merely enjoying the films...they are. I'm looking forward to Black Swan (it won't be in Ireland for another couple of months) and hope it will affect me to the same degrees as your other films.

Yours sincerely,
Athos Tsiopani

MessageYour comments about the next Wolverine film: "It's a standalone piece that has nothing to do with anything in the whole franchise or that entire universe." were cause for pause.

The reason there are Wolverine films are because the character has an established story and a fan-base that knows that story.

The question is whether you really want to make a movie about Wolverine or if, in fact, you want to make a movie about some character of your own device using Wolverine simply as a convenient vehicle.

If the latter, the honorable thing would be to bow out and let a director who wants to do the former helm the project.

MessageDarren Aronofsky. Your name alone gives me chills. You are a mastermind, genius, the greatest director of all time and I just want you to know how deeply you have influenced my life. Thank you for making me question humanity and the world we live in and for inspiring me to direct. Hopefully someday I will make a film that touches you. Until then though, keep teaching every other filmmaker out there how to really make a movie and I will be there soon.

Sincerely yours,
Natalia

MessageThe Fountain Commentary doesn't seem to be working. This makes me sad. Still, the film blew my mind.
Thanks

MessageDear Darren,

I've never written to a writer/director/creator of something before, but your works are so fantastic, I had to.

I love the concepts that go into your films, whilst there's something melancholy about "requiem" there's also an air of brilliance and discovery in "Pi".

The film "Pi" has influenced me more than any. I am a 2nd year student doing a degree in Computer Science and that film has inspired ideas I will use for my dissertation and even future research. So thankyou Darren, for making films worth watching.

Jacob
