MessageTo Hugh Phillips,
It was good to read your message about your your Dad. My son told me of this web site. I served aboard the Randolph from 59-62 in V2 division. I remmber your father Denny and his sense of humor. I think he worked in arresting gear, I work in the catapults. I still have my year book (I plan to give it to my son) and have some pictures of the day we was to pick John Glen, and Gus Grissom. My memmories of the collision at sea with the freighter at 1800hrs on clear sunny day is still very vivid. My compartment was on the port catwalk just after the gun mounts. I dont remmber who I was with but we helped move the 5" ammo to a safe place during the fire. I will always remmber the Randolph, as I was only 17 when I went aboard. I have a lot memmories of that time and the cruises we went on. I hope to hear from you or your dad at sometime in the future.
Always remmber "Rando Cando"

Walter Naff

MessageMy uncle, Justin Dagostino, was killed in the 3/11/1945 attack. I was interested to see that most of the crew was watching a movie in a part of the Randolph that wasn't damaged - our family's oral history account has been that while most of the crew were at the movie, Justin stayed back and was reading his Bible. If anyone has any information to share on him, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
