MessageSorry, my public relations staff put "GM Duke" instead of "GM Epp" on my last release...probably because we will be taking Duke's championship title this year.
Regardless, I fired them all anyway.
My apologies Duke.

MessageI have to say, Duke's sophisticated and insightful analysis is refreshing.

On a sidebar, this off-season has been one of the most active, yet non-productive trade periods in a while. Many GM's have had several possible deals on several tables yet it's only now that someone finally pulled the trigger.
I applaud the hard work of all GM's involved and hope this will open the floodgates to more deals.

Messageeveryone loses in this deal..

collin get kovalchuk who's awesome and has 3 championship rings.. but he gave up a lot..

phil gets staal (who's a joke) and phaneuf who has the potential to one day not be a joke... the redraft isn't what it used to be, so the goalie that phil takes first overall will no doubt end up being a joke..

i conclude with the well known fact that taylor hall is a joke..

MessageInitially this trade looks good for all GMs involved.

Upon further investigation/evaluation (a 3 way deal is hard to evaluate unless you take a long look at it) - look what the C-Doggs gave up! Phanuef (possible blue chip dman), the 1st overall pp pick!, the 1st overall re-draft pick!, and 2 second rounders. Yes the C-doggs did address their forward depth and become a team that is no longer building for the future. As rumors abound, Phaneuf was difficult to move and this way the doggs were able to ride their room of him. However, at what cost?

Both the Terror and Phillies win (in the opinion of this sports writer). Terror only gave up Staal (for Hall, a 2nd rounder and another pick). Phillies gave up two very sketchy forwards and a 3rd round pick.

Now here's the kicker - he received two first rounders (one of which is 1st overall!) very solid young forward in Staal and a potential blue chip blue liner in Phaneuf! (even if Phaneuf doesn't achieve star status he will still be a solid blue liner for years to come).

MessageSorry just a note about the pick in 13/14, it is actually a future considerations pick and is any pick I have the rights to and will be determined at the time of the draft.
