| Message | Just talked to Wiebe - he's in and will be paying his dues asap. He's looking forward to creating new parroty. Duke - I think we should cap the group @ 7. I think it will help keep things even. Re: # of protected player each year system is currently being considered. I plan on making a proposal that takes into consideration the high value of drafting and developing prospects among the GMs of our pool. GM Lindout will be contacted when he comes back from holidays. He certainly will welcome the dispersal draft and also proposed to me last fall that our league include some kind of protection/waiver process to help keep things competitive for all. I anticipate he will be in. |

| Message | I'm all for the idea of protecting a set number of guys and having a larger draft. Probably would want to do a form of that each year actually just to keep things moving and not get so much disparity in the league |

| Message | A Fredian slip? As in Sigmund Fred? If we really want to get things going, let's each protect 15-18 players, throw everyone else into the available group along with Phil's guys and have a huge draft. |

| Message | Fredian slip? A parody is a spoof such as Weird Al songs. Parity is a level playing field Let's just do a dispersal and inject some life into the pool. Should liven things up a bit and add some parity, without adding as much work as starting from scratch. Phil, thanks for the memories ![]() |

| Message | Okay then - Phil just made the pool interesting and has addressed our problem. By withdrawing and dispersing his team, we most likely will achieve some level of parody once again. I must take issue with one of his critiques (i.e. implying that there are various levels of GM competency or those who are more "casual" in their knowledge of the game). I would argue that right now our pool has a fairly level playing field in GM competency/knowledge. (If former GMs Epp and Neufeld were still around that might be true, but their replacements in Wiebe and Lindout have a much higher competency.) He is right when he says Gms aren't equally active. However, I would argue their are two factors that contribute to this dynamic. One, which we have not much control over, is "season of life" stuff (i.e. babies, kids, schooling, jobs, transitions, marriages etc.) We have to have some patience with that stuff to maintain the pool through these types of fluctuation - plus "self-awareness" of each GM/owner to pull the plug on their own ownership if it seems their season is too overwhelming and will never have the required interest that this pool demands. The second factor that contributes to fluctuation in interest level is parody. This last season was one of the worst in the history of the pool. Thus, it is no surprise when teams ranked 4-8 show little interest during the season. No one wants to trade because teams 3-8 are all rebuilding. |

| Message | Interesting...if anyone but Phil quit, I would probably say the pool is over but a dispersal draft with his team could start to even the field a bit more. My take, we label Phil's players as undrafted and hold a 5-7 round draft in Fall. I would qualify this by saying that I'm only for this plan if everyone is committed and all outstanding fees are paid. Otherwise, curtains for the FHL. Phil, you made this pool pretty interesting and pretty much gave me the title, so good job! |

| Message | I think the status quo is super lame. The current format of the FHL requires that all GM's be extermely and equally competitive and active... and that clearly isn't the case. This type of pool just doesn't work with the level of disinterest apparent accross the board. Personally, I've had less interest in hockey than ever before, although I did enjoy the playoffs. I recommend that the pool pays out Cam for 5 years of dynasty wins, and then switches formats to a one year annual draft/auction of some sort... This allows you guys to get together each year for hockey fun but the armchair GM gets to remain more casual and not have to know who Leon Draisaitl is... I will formally withdraw either way so feel free to find a new apathetic GM to take over my team of all stars... But before doing so, the Phillies are pleased to announce their final deal: Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin, Kane, Letang and Quick to Cam for Mike Ribeiro |

| Message | My interest is even - I'm good with the status quo. I don't have as much time (but that's been the case for the last 5 years), but I do like trying to develop a team of prospects. I think all of us are basically in the same boat as far as time and energy goes (i.e. we've all got many things on the go - kids, careers etc.) I think the pool is simple enough that we can manage our teams with less energy (and our GMs have enough competency of the NHL to compete with less effort). I don't have a problem with Scott and Wiebe being absentee GMs during the let down part of FHL season (i.e. the end of season and play-offs). But I hope they bring some effort to the up coming draft this fall. The biggest problem right now is that we've got a dynasty juggernaut on our hands with the Terror, and no one can really take a run at him - yet. Less parody makes for more GM/Owners with less interest. |

| Message | honestly i didn't follow hockey this year. my team make up allows me to do that and get away with it. i'm in the pool because it's a great league and i think i might like hockey in 6 years when my team might be ready to compete. we talk about mixing it up almost every year. i'm fine with status quo, i'm not going anywhere. it is a franchise pool and there will be 5 year stretches where it might be boring for some teams. if we started over i wouldn't be interested in putting in the time and effort. |
