MessageOn behalf of the supporters club can we express our sincere thanks for the hard work that Graeme Banyard has put into Merstham FC. Many will be very sorry to see Graeme leave and we are very disappointed that a way could not be found to keep him at the club. We would like to wish Graeme all the best for the future in whatever he does and whoever succeeds him will have a very hard act to follow.

Tony Ritchie

Chairman Merstham FC Supporters Club.

MessageThe statement from the 'Board' is not true. Graeme was happy to carry on.

Am disgusted with this situation right now.

MessageGraham has done a great job under difficult circumstances . if you want to go up the budget has to be improved as we proved when i was there .
you must all be together as a club , a really good club, but to go up all things have to be in place.

MessageAssistant Reserve team Manager - last year we won the Southern youth League at the 3rd attempt, first year we were bottom, second year we finished 5th, next year we won. One of the main reasons is that we developed a squad over 2 years from a mixture of yr2 boys (17 yrs old) and yr 1 and some 15 year old. Youth team football runs in cycles dependent largly on the age of the squad, but also the right balance, so that you are not solely reliant on older boys, who maybe there 1 season and then leave to move up to reserves or the A team with J.Gellett. This way we have continiuty of players for the club.
With the reserves we have tried to keep that continuity going with a blend of youth, 18 to 21/22 year old with a couple of more experienced older heads in there mid 20's. When we were the Youth team we played once a week and trained another night, or twice a week if no game, our principle is the same with the reserves, we play mid week and train one night or train twice a week if our game is on the weekend. The youth team train on the same nights as the reserves and we do join together so that we can monitor the youth team players in conjunction with the reserve players. The management team of Paul Elsey, myself and Andy Martin (coach)believe that this approach helps the youth to see a progression further in the club and we use the excellent facilities at the Warwick to the fullest at every opportunity, for either fitness or match practice.

MessageRonnie Moore states down below that a number of people dont agree that Graeme is doing a good job.
Now what is a good job.
If we win our next game we could go to 8th thats good, if we lose we could stay were we are now or slip a spot that is still a stisfactory position for a village club that 10 years ago was playing in a park with a small wicker type fence around it.They are playing in a league which is 4 leagues of the Football League, now i would say we are punching way beyond our weight. The top 6-7 clubs have very large budgets and most of them have ex professional players managing them. Merstham cannot afford either and yet we have a management team that give 100%, if they were given a budget the perhaps we could expect more so that is why the VAST MAJORITY of supporters are pleased with our manager and trust and believe what he is doing. The club as i see have no debts we could get a money man in which is unlikely then yes we may get short term success but then go down the slippery path like many others. From the Chairman right down to the people serving the burgers to the ones selling the programmes are all 100% behind the club so dont knock it. If you dont like it then support some other team.

MessageI am very pleased about one supporter's message on here. We all get upset about things but we don't want to get a reputation as a club that gives abuse to the oppo and officials.

Otherwise, we faced yet another very good side and were well beaten (albeit a dodgy pen and an offside not given through the fog). Not a 1-5 but we were still by far the poorer side. Saying all that, taking all things into consideration we can still finish top half which will be a good achievement for this side.

MessageRonnie's comments are interesting. Of course losing Wes was a blow and out home record is disappointing. His comments about Graeme are unjustified. Our manager has put together a competive team on a budget that is a fraction of what clubs like Walton Cauals, Not Police, Bognor. Leatherhead and Whitehawk have available. The fact of the matter is that the Ryman South league is no different to the Premier league and that is those clubs who have the most money to spend will be those who get promotion. All to often big spending clubs end at our level end in tears and you only have to look at the two teams who were promoted from our league last season. I do support Graham Banyard although I do not always agree with his tactics or his decisions. I tell you this, with money that I think Merstham have available I doubt that there is a better manager to manage Merstham.

MessageWhile I agree totally with what Tony has said the players themselves must take quite a bit of the blame for the aweful result. They looked very poor at times and lacked leadership. Matt is not a Wes! Our home record is appalling only three wins in the league other teams must be rubbling there hands with glee at the thought of coming to moatside. I hope this gets posted as all I've read are messages saying how good a job Graham is doing when what I hear from a lot of people is to the contary. I dont think 13th and sliding down is doing a good job.
