| Message | My mother, Kathleen Eveleigh, is from Grand Bank and has been telling us to " keep 2007 open" for the past few years. My husband and I and our four children will be coming to Grand Bank with her. Although we visited Grand Bank often as children - to stay with " nanny and gramps" - Chesley and Almeda ( Mathews ) Eveleigh - I have not been back in 10 years. This time will be extra special for us as we are bringing our new baby boy - Josh - who is named after his great grandfather Captain Josh Matthews who was lost at sea. Can't wait to have some fresh fish and see cousins Don E., Uncle Gus & Aunt Ada ect. |

| Message | I hope to go to Grand Bank next summer. My grandmother, Susan Royle Jones, daughter of Elizabeth & Charles Royle of Hickman Street, was originally from Grand Bank. Nanny passed away four years ago, and Grand Bank has always meant so much to me because she loved it so much. I'd love to go at least one more time to visit her place of birth. I was her only grandchild, and she meant the world to me. I was there with my parents when I was seven years old and met my sweet great grandmother, Elizabeth Forsey Royle, my grandmother's two brothers, Fred (Aunt Eleanor) and Ned (Aunt Rose) Royle, and their families. That was 35 years ago, and I have very fond memories of our trip. Hi to Jr., Greta, Bill and all my Royle cousins in Grand Bank. Can anyone help me find information on the Rose's from Hermitage Bay/Pass Island area. My ggg grandmother was Elizabeth (nee: Rose) Simms married to Robert Simms. They had several children; one of which was my gg grandmother, Maria Christine Simms Forsey, who married Fred Forsey of Grand Bank. I have lots of information on the Simms family but nothing on Elizabeth (nee: Rose) Simms' family. Hope to hear from someone regarding this portion of my family tree. If I can get my vacation during the Homecoming time, my family and I will definitely be there. Beautiful website by the way! |
