*Wow, this website is amazing. My grandmother, Isabelle (Murphy) O'Brien was from Carboner and I have spent time there myself visiting my family on Chapel Hill. So great to come on here and look at what's going on since I was there last (early 1990's) Would love to come "home" for another visit and bring my husband and son. Love the views of the harbor. Take good care of her until I get back.
My ancestors came from Carbonear. I am originally from the Corner Brook area. My g.g.g.g grandfather was George Davis who lived in Carbonear in the mid 1600s. A descendant of his (and mine) moved to Bay of Islands in the 1800s. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who may be a relative of mine. I am a retired school principal currently living in Bishop's Falls and have done extensive research on the Davis family.I would be happy to share what info I have with interested Davis family members.

hello, just wanted to say my husband was born in victoria village nfld., but his family left there when he was only 5 years old, we have been back for a visit and found the people there were so friendly, and we met lots of his relatives, they treated us as if we never left, made us feel so welcome we can't wait to go back for a visit.

I visited Carbonear as a young lad of 19 ,back in 1964-65, on several occassions. I worked with several folks from the Carbonear area at NAS Argentia. I was with the Navy Seabees, MCB4, and NAS MCBU/PWD. I have fond and very happy memories of my visits. I remember attending dances at the Catholic School and a young gal named Stella Pumphry. My wife and I expect to visit Newfoundland sometime this summer.
