MessageWilma was such a weird experience. It was a disaster and it was awfull, but was also wonderful because of the people that my sister and I met. In just a few days, we added on to our family.

During the summer, I would go to lay on a beach chair and hope that it would not be my bed for a few days.

All is good now and I can't wait to go back to the Moon Palace in April and see my family again.

Take care all!!

Leslye

MessageFound the site looking for info for neices school project on natural disasters. Looking through the www sites my memories are only good. The fear has gone and new friends will always be friends. The good folk of our neighbourhood on the 2nd floor at Moon Palace shelter are having a reunion next April. We will be sure to have a drink to you all. We just can't stay away from the Palace and the fantastic staff. I just hope the golf course has dried out! smilie

MessageI guess some of us may have forgotten how terrible this experience was but for me it is still fresh in my mind, even though it happen almost a year ago. I will never forget the horrific sound of Wilma screaming outside our windows as we all took shelter praying that we wouldnt be claimed as one of her victims. And the waiting and wondering if you could get a flight home or atleast anywhere in the United States. This experience really changed my outlook on life. You must not take it for advantage because just like that it can be gone. I want to thank all the people that risk their own lives to protect ours. And say that the people of Cancun should be very proud, they were rebuilding their beautiful city as soon as the water was gone, with no mention of FEMA

We also MUST thank the person from Shell who took control of the situation along with the british doctor.Does any body know there e-mail address so i could thank them both, they were fantastic .

Message4 of us were staying at the Park Royal Piramides for 3 days before Wilma hit. We were evacuated to a shelter in Cancun town and told we'd be there for 24 hrs. What were we going to do for 24hrs? (We left 6 days later!) 15 of us were in a 20ft sq concrete box with leaking windows-spent 1st night bailing water so others could sleep. 2nd night sealed windows with 500 pieces of chewing gum! 400+ people sharing 4 toilets. Little food, no elec, water, total alcohol ban. I'm sure everyone has a similar story! Got taxi back to hotel to pick up luggage-what a picture of devastation. 10 hour coach trip to Merida-v.smelly! Wasn't the airport fun! An experience we'll never forget and I'll never chew gum again in my life!

MessageWe stayed at Aventura Spa Palace from May 8-15 2006 for our honeymoon. We atahced the 'damage channel' and could not beleive the horror and devastation that hotel and all of Mexico faced.
What a beautiful place! Im glad everyone made it out safe and that the hotel was able to continue to give us such an amazing and unforgettable honeymoon!!

MessageMoon Palace here. I was just sitting back remembering the days of the hurricane. The one year anniversary is coming up, along with my wife and mine as well. Come October, I will crack a beer and sit back and smile and remember. I wish everyone the best. Does anyone have pictures from the Moon Palace?

My best,
Tim Vander Biezen
