MessageI can't believe it took us this long to find the site. Thanks to Kim for all of her hard work. We still remember seeing you sitting next to the outlet with your laptop! Even though it was not the ideal honeymoon it was one we will definitely not forget. I wish we would have been better about keeping in contact with some of the great people we met while in the shelter. We are going back to Aventura at the end of March and are extremely excited (and a bit nervous.) Hope everyone is well and hope to see more posts in the future.

Best Wishes,

Justin and Lindsay

MessageEven though we was hit by hurricane wilma whilst on holiday in cancun i still class being going to mexico the best holiday i've had so far. The hotel staff from Oasis Playa couldn't have been any more helpful or friendlier even if they tried, i got on so well with one of them that he came to england and stayed with me for a couple of days, summer just gone. Im sure the hotel workers would have preferred to be at home with their own family especially at a time like that but instead they entertained us and made sure everything was ok. Without a doubt i know the hurricane experience would have been a whole lot worse if the locals didn't stay with us, so a big thank you goes to them and may god bless them all as they go through hurricanes every year!!!!!!

Messagemy wife & i went to cozumel for our honeymoon. the day after we arrived, wilma became a cat5 and the owner of the dive shop told us to head inland. so we took his advice and went coba to a club med villa. rented a car in PDC and drove to coba. we were stuck there for 5 nights, but we had our own rooms, food, water, power, tv (amazingly, the sat dish stayed up thru the storm), and we made some good friends. we got to see the ruins at coba before the storm hit. when we were able to leave coba, the roads to cancun were still flooded, so we went further inland to valladolid. we stayed there for 2 nights and were able to use phones & internet to contact family and reschedule our flight and also visit chichen-itza and ek-balam. NWA confirmed us on a rescue flight out of cancun on thursday oct 27. so we got up that morning and drove to cancun and arrived at the airport about 2 hours before our flight was scheduled to leave. at the gates they asked us for our boarding passes and we didn't have any, so they told us to go downtown to get some, and i figured we'd miss our flight. we got there and there were 1000s of people trying to get a flight, and we went to the NWA desk and said that we were confirmed and they said sorry, no phones so we can't confirm that, and were basically told to get in line and we might get out tomorrow. but after pleading nicely, we got boarding passes. after hearing other stories, we were thankful that we went inland and that we got on that flight

MessageOne year ago today (Thursday) we were being evacuated from Aventura Palace into the Convention Center. Little did we know how long we would be there....and how scary it would become. Thanks to all the workers there who worked so hard and tried to make us comfortable. Thanks to all the other evacuees (is that a word?) who always had a smile in the middle of all that uncertainly and fear. Thanks to our families who were worried about us and trying to do something to help. Thanks for the new friends we have made. Thank God for allowing us to return home safely. Don't we all have a better appreciation of our daily hot showers? Happy Anniversary and our very best wishes to all.
