| Message | my wife & i went to cozumel for our honeymoon. the day after we arrived, wilma became a cat5 and the owner of the dive shop told us to head inland. so we took his advice and went coba to a club med villa. rented a car in PDC and drove to coba. we were stuck there for 5 nights, but we had our own rooms, food, water, power, tv (amazingly, the sat dish stayed up thru the storm), and we made some good friends. we got to see the ruins at coba before the storm hit. when we were able to leave coba, the roads to cancun were still flooded, so we went further inland to valladolid. we stayed there for 2 nights and were able to use phones & internet to contact family and reschedule our flight and also visit chichen-itza and ek-balam. NWA confirmed us on a rescue flight out of cancun on thursday oct 27. so we got up that morning and drove to cancun and arrived at the airport about 2 hours before our flight was scheduled to leave. at the gates they asked us for our boarding passes and we didn't have any, so they told us to go downtown to get some, and i figured we'd miss our flight. we got there and there were 1000s of people trying to get a flight, and we went to the NWA desk and said that we were confirmed and they said sorry, no phones so we can't confirm that, and were basically told to get in line and we might get out tomorrow. but after pleading nicely, we got boarding passes. after hearing other stories, we were thankful that we went inland and that we got on that flight |
