MessageI cannot imagine trying to live on the current minimum wage in this country. In 2003 I had the misfortune of losing my job and for a time had to live on unemployment benefits. I am single and have no dependent children, however, each one of those checks from UE benefits was guarded with my life. It was extremely difficult living off the maximum income allowed for unemployment and I found myself cutting back in every phase of my life to stretch that income. My benefits, however exceeded those of people who earn minimum wage and I still found it difficult.

I fully support the "One Dollar Moore" campaign and sincerely hope that we will one day get to a place where we realize and recognize the correlation between economic disparity and poverty in our society. I also hope that we will place more emphasis on helping to raise citizens of this country out of poverty through education and opportunity. I plan to do my share to educate more people about financial literacy and realizing economic opportunity in my community. I invite others to do the same.

MessageThank you for this opportunity to say this much about a raise increase. This increase is past due.I am working for a program which only allows me to work 20 hours per week.I am struggling.I am a citizen of the U.S.I love my country. But as a citizen of it in 2006 I can barely eat,pay for a place to live.As a matter of fact, the scenario is worst than I'm mentioning. So have a heart.Raise the minimum wage and allow citizens of this cointry to LIVE! smilie

MessageI am in total support of raising minimum wage. I thank God that I am not one who is forced to make it on 5.15/hour, and I sympathize with those who do. It's long overdue!

MessageIncreasing minimum wage will be beneficial to all workers in North Carolina, especially for those that are not fortunate enough to have a decent paying job and have to survive on minimum wage. Put a "real face" on the dollar bill and increase minimum wage!
