MessageWhy should Congressmen get regulare raises, yet poor, working people don't? Please raise the minimum wage to at least $6.15. I would support a raise to $7.15!

MessageOne dollar is nothing more than a small step in the right direction. How can there be any doubt that it's for the good of ALL when workers get a living wage? Without that living wage the state becomes a secondary source of financial relief, with the attendant cost born by the community, not to speak of the immorality of closing our eyes to the suffering of those who cannot earn enough to support their families.

MessageThis is the very least we can do, and I trust on ly a first step, to move North Carolina forward in helping our citizens escape poverty! However, it is a worthy cause among many - healthcare for all, childcare assistance for low income working parents, affordable transportation to available jobs, etc. - and, thus, only a first step to what a moral society is called to support.

MessageAt the cost of food today, no one can even begin to just take care of themselves, much less a family, at minimum wage. It must be raised. Would you steal a loaf of bread to feed your hungry child? I would. No wonder theft in stores is up!

MessageI was able to support six people on my wages from 1950's to 1980's. What has happened to the working class that they no longer have a voice at the bargaining table? Raise the wages at least one dollar more per hour.

MessageHow can anyoune live on $5.15 an hour. It is outrageous! A gallon of gas costs nearly $3.00. A person could not afford to drive to work and we have no public transportation. The middle class not exist anymore.

MessageIf we are the party that defends the powerless and speaks for the voiceless, there isn't a question about our vote on this issue. As a future business owner, I support wage levels that do not depend on tax payer social programs as wage subsidies. As a North Carolinian, I do not want the embarrassment of being the last state in the South to raise the minimum wage. Thank you Treasurer Moore for your leadership on this issue.
