It's good to hear that you're still alive and kicking even though in the other side of the world.
Is Gill Ghani still around as well do you know. Last time we met he was CSM in HQ Company I think.

MessageFriday. 4th July 2014, will stay with me forever. To see close on 500 red berets marching to Downing St was awe inspiring. I had the privilege of walking alongside Sir Hew Pike, who conducted an act of remembrance to all our fallen at the top of Downing St. For members of the public simply watching, to give us a spontaneous round of applause at the end was really appreciated. The sight of Stewart McLaughlin jnr pushing an Arnhem vet in his wheelchair, up to the door of No 10 was truly lump in the throat stuff. The response and encouragement from the police guarding Downing St was fantastic. It was an unbelievable day that showed true Airborne spirit at it's very best. It was an absolute privilege to be there.

MessageMessage for Kevin ref Steve Wilson (Wilow), I had the pleasure of serving with Steve he was a great lad and good friend. If I remember correctly he was laid to rest in his home town of Hereford where I believe his family still live. His son was on a recent TV program as while serving with the Rifles in Afghan he was seriously injured. We lost a lot of good lads on the 89/90 tour, RIP we shall Remember.

MessageI know most people are aware, but just a quick reminder. On the 4th July, the family of Cpl Stewart McLaughlin, KIA, during the battle for Mount Longdon, will be presenting a portfolio of information,to the Prime Minister, for his consideration, in respect of gaining a posthumous award, for Cpl McLaughlin's exemplary bravery during the battle. In support of the family a short march will take place to Downing St. Maj Gen Sir Hew Pike will be attending the march along with a substantial number of ex 3 para, and those from other Regiments and services. The Rev David Cooper, the renowned 2 Para Padre during the Falklands war will be conducting a service of remembrance for all our fallen, at the end of the parade. Johnny Weeks who was B Coy CSM, on Mount Longdon will step us off on the march. This and the service will be the only formalities, it is not a protest march, it is Airborne brothers and others from other arms and services, and indeed civilians, all united to support the family of a fallen comrade. There is no hierarchy, no parade commander, but it will be a dignified event. Preferred dress is beret, regimental tie and medals, although it is appreciated that this will not be practical for some due to wotk commitments etc, the most important thing is your presence. there will be several PRA standards, along with a piper, and bugler at the service. If you can make it, please do, it will be a tremendous way to kick off ABF weekend in Aldershot.

MessageHi guys
love the site and hope it gets better each year.

I am after your help to establish if anyone knows a man who I reckon served in 3 Para in the the early to mid eighties by the name of Stuart (Stuart)Neil?

This man has regularly attended the Armistice Parade with his Red Beret and in general bad turnout and with a nob he used to share a hovel with. I was wary of him and when inquired was told he had served but was not a full shilling. My delemna being was he one of us and if so did he need help?

He certainly needed help and after a number of years speaking with him and with the help of someone who had used Combat Stress he was persuaded to get their help.

I am pleased to say that over the last 18 months there has been a remarked improvement and he is now out of the hovel with a girlfriend.

Yesterday he saw Lee Green and when he spoke with Lee and said he knew Le? Lee does not know him and he is sceptical of his ingenuity. If any knows him and can help fill in the story and how he come to have PTSD I would be grateful.

Yours in Brotherhood.
Huey
