| Message | Bonjour Muckers I was this email and thought I should post it on the web site. "Philippa Kennedy (See short bio below) and wife of John Pullinger, whom many of you will know asked for the following to be passed on to 3 PARA which has been done. Dear Mike and Hamish I was wondering if you could pass on a message to 3 Para for me. I was at the British Press Awards recently and Christina Lamb of The Sunday Times won Foreign Reporter of the Year and promptly dedicated her award to the men of C Coy 3 Para with whom she was embedded in Afghanistan. She wrote a truly thrilling account of how she was with them when they were ambushed. She thought they were all going to be killed and was mightily impressed, not to say relieved, when C Coy 3 Para held it together calmly, regrouped and shot their way out of the ambush. I think she said the OC was a Major Blair. [He was subsequently awarded a DSO]. Anyway I told her my husband was ex Parachute Regiment and I felt sure that C Coy would like to know that she dedicated the very prestigious award to them. The event was at the Grosvenor House Hotel attended by nearly 700 of Fleet Street's finest - all the editors etc". Hope to see some of you in London. |
