| Message | Col FH (Jim) Scobie OBE, formerly CO of 3 PARA 1965-7 has died on 5 September aged 83. He had been in hospital for the past month resulting from head injuries suffered from a fall. He was commissioned in 1942 and retired in 1969. When CO of 3 PARA the battalion was deployed at short notice on an emergency tour to British Guiana. The funeral will be held at noon on the Wednesday 17th September at Welford Church, near Great Shefford north of Hungerford, Berkshire. Former Airborne and Parachute Regiment friends would be welcomed to attend the Service. | Message | Reminder to Everyone: As earlier stated by Terry Carroll in the guestbook on the 4th August. "The 2 Para Chairman (Dave Singletary) has become involved with the many bereaved relatives of the dead and also the wounded soldiers that, unfortunately, 2 Para have incurred on their current tour in Afghanistan. Thank God, so far 3 Para have been OK. During this he has become aware of a lack of funding for Visiting Officers and also recreational facilities at Selly Oak Hospital for our wounded soldiers. Therefore, he has orgainised a Ladies Night, as way of a fund-raising event, for all regimental reunion clubs at the Metropole Hotel in Blackpool over the weekend 21-23 November".
