MessageFor NORTHERN IRELAND VETS
Pat Conway has kindly brought to my attention an event which I would have thought would have been far more widely publicised but it hasn't!!

0n 10th September 2008 in St Paul's Cathedral there is to be a Service to mark the end of Operation Banner in Northern Ireland. The purpose of this email is to draw your attention to this important commemoration and for you to apply for invitations for the places that are available in St Paul's Cathedral - if it is not too late (which I suspect it might be)as this information first came out in early June!
Purpose of the Event. "To honour members of the UK Armed Forces and the MOD Civil Service who lost their lives or were injured in Northern Ireland and the over 300,000 personnel who served in the Province since 1969".
The Event. The Op Banner commemoration will comprise 3 elements:
A service of Remembrance in St Paul's Cathedral at 11am to which 2000 people will be invited.
A march through the City from St Paul's Cathedral to the Guildhall (subject to sufficient eligible attendees wishing to march)
Receptions in the Guildhall, St Paul's Crypt, the Vintners and Skinners Halls between 1pm and 3pm.
Contact UK Veterans Agency helpline on 0800 169 2277 or visit their website.
I won't be able to make it but I hope some members will.
PS I will be away on holiday until 4 Sep

MessageEveryone: As earlier stated by Terry Carroll in the guestbook on the 4th August. "The 2 Para Chairman (Dave Singletary) has become involved with the many bereaved relatives of the dead and also the wounded soldiers that, unfortunately, 2 Para have incurred on their current tour in Afghanistan.
Thank God, so far 3 Para have been OK.
During this he has become aware of a lack of funding for Visiting Officers and also recreational facilities at Selly Oak Hospital for our wounded soldiers.
Therefore, he has orgainised a Ladies Night, as way of a fund-raising event, for all regimental reunion clubs at the Metropole Hotel in Blackpool over the weekend 21-23 November".
It is obviously something that we should support.
Terry Carroll Chairman.
The link and ticket details are now ready for reading and/or downloading at the bottom of the NEWSLETTER page.
As Terry says this is something which we should all make an effort to support.
