Message | Merlin Carr posted a note on Facebook message this morning noting that Bob Ellis passed away in his sleep this Thursday night. Bob meant so much to all of us Spangler Mates. It’s extremely sad knowing that we won’t be able to visit with him any longer. Our sympathy and prayers are extended to Millie and family. Bob was a Sonarman 2nd class aboard the USS Spangler DE696 from 1949 to 1952. |

Message | The original Spangler website is reinstalled on the internet. It includes the deck logs, Jim. Enjoy! Use te same ussspangler dot net address as previously. Unfortunately, I’m prohibited from posting the internet address here in the Guestbook. |

Message | Thanks, Jim, always enjoy reading your entries. they play a big part in keeping the Spangler website alive. I "hated" not being able to include the decklogs with the move to the new site, but the work involved would have been too demanding. I moved to the new site for two reasons: one to do away with the annual cost in keeping the previous website up and running on the internet; and second to assure that photographs, seatales and etc. would remain available for viewing for years to come, hopefully, without need for my involvement. Like you I enjoyed browsing the decklogs and will continue to seek some way of getting them reposted. Thanks for your feedback! |
