MessageGlad to see this sight. I was assigned to the 410th SF from 84 -88. I remember many a nights working the flight line on patrol and all the activity between the B-52 and 106 fighters. My last visit to the base in 2005 was sad though. I miss seeing the base and housing looking all nice and clean and the home owners taking pride on how they kept the property up.

MessageHave many great memories of the 87th. I was a crew chief from 1972 - 1976. Last year my son and I stopped at the aircraft museum in Kalamazoo, MI. They have a 106 cockpit there and while sitting in it, I could still close my eyes and touch all the switches. Really enjoyed showing my son how everything worked. Good luck on your restoration and thanks for the site. smilie

MessageNever realize how much you miss something til its gone. My days in the 87 FIS were the highlight of my military career. I remember when I would gladly volunteer to stay hours after my shift to perform an ops check for a nose wheel shimmy problem. High speed taxi checks were few and far between. All those weekends spent waxing 57-2547 paid off and helped her while sitting in the hot Arizona sun. I'm so glad that my daily routine at work back then included bringing my camera. I treasure the photos of the jets and great friends I had back then. Look forward to returning to KIS with my family and show them were I started my life long obsession. Please feel free to send me an email if you remember me from the old days. Take care and keep your windscreen clean. smilie

MessageGreat choice of aircraft #60461. It was based at 5th FIS after my time there. Got tech manuals for CN&L Z30150?

I am buying a F-106 pin to help out the F-106 restoration project!
